Hmmm, I, being cynical, rarely believe hype till I see the finished product, still the silent hill games are some remarkably good horror, although I wonder how well they will translate into film.

they should get a really twisted japanese director if the want it done properly.. american director wont scare the audience at all cuz they just keep hashing old tricks

Awsome. anyway i thought the games were the scariest out there so this would make a pretty good movie, but that said i still think they might screw it up so bad. they just better not make it like the game silent hill: the room(stupid)

It isnt the fault of the American directors. It is the fault of the american studios being to scared to bank on innovative directors. Look at George Romero, He couldnt find a studio to bank on his new movie regaurdless of his achievments. Japanese horror is overated.

Silent hill would blow as a movie, yeah it has a possibility of being good, but that doesnt matter. They would have to change the story line dramtically to be a film. you cant just have a single character running around by himself for two hours.

transfering a video game (or comic for that matter) into a movie is really hard for these reasons:

1. geeks: they ***** if the movie is too different from the game/comic

2. geeks again: they ***** if the movie is too much like the game/comic

3. film companys: they try and stylise (so spelt that wrong) the movies to be all action, and end up with over the top crap fests like Matrix 2/3)

um no it is the American directors fault they SUCK. and anyway have u played a silent hill game cuase i have and there are way more then 1 person in the game, u even get to be another in the game and meet many other normal plp.

Saying American directors may seem accurate at first, but when you look deeper it is the Studios who sign the directors. Many times a director will be chosen, but when he wants to take part in the screen writing, and refuses to not do the film unless they have totall artistic rights over the project. The film studios will take them off the project. You have to know how movie studios work to understand this. Studios will look at the certain demographic that the film is directed twords, then they will enforce certain things in the writing of the script. when it comes to horror, they like to mainly do what is popular, stick to what works. the same with comedies. You cant blame a Director for how a film turns out when they have little say in what they are filming. the fainlings of a film are more usually attributed to the writer or studios more times than the directors.

Yeah i have played Silent hill games. All of them to be accurate. I wasnt talking about all of them, i was speaking about the first game. In the first game 80% of the game is just a single man looking for his daughter that has periodic run ins with a police officer. being alone, is one of the facotrs that made the game so good. Throwing another person or two in the mix would take away from that a bit. Also it is a video game for christ sakes. Why not go with somthing more original? Oh, movie studios dont like to take risks. silent hill is a money giant wilth a major fan base. You dont think these would be the reasons the game would be made into a film over the story? when you make a movie for how much money it could potentially make, is when you get garbage. Sorry, silent hill as a movie could be a good idea, but is ultimately a terrible idea.

I think Jap horror is way overrated, sure anything seems scary when you and your friends are only 5 feet tall, I will see a silent hill movie but am not expecting much.

jap horror is no way overrated, they get all the actuall scary crap america thinks we cant ahndle, thats why every one brages about the jap versions of movies. there way better then SAW lol

Japanese horror tries to hard. I guess that is better than having horror that doesnt even try at all though. Most of the asian horror flicks i have seen, it seems that they lack atmosphere.

the japanese care less about the bloody and violent side, they can make what they want and not worry about the censors, whereas America and Australia scream bloody murder with lots of things (look at Kill Bill, they black and whited the most violent part, in Japan they had it in full colour). Ichi the Killer, theres a scene where a man is having sex with a woman and bashing her at the same time (like Irreversable, the french are alot like the Japanese in the censorship department, except with things like Baise Moi), that would never make it to the screen in the US or Aus. and the japanese have those black soul-less eyes when they want to, kinda freaky

it so true, American directors are always scared when making a horror flick, that it will have there best parts cut out. like the movie blood rayne has just finished shooting and they talked to the director and he says he prays they don't cut out all his scenes.

i just watched the dvd .the artists name is francis bacon.

shit, even Hitchcock had parts cut out of psycho, he added stuff that he knew would be cut out so they overlooked parts he wanted to keep in the movie, you know, make it look not that much next the the other stuff

Radha Mitchell (Finding Neverland) is the first cast member announced. She'll be playing the lead. The rest of the cast will be announced shortly. Speaking of which, various people have been reported to have seen actress Angelina Jolie around the area, speculating that she may have a role in the film, but I'd pass that off as a rumor for now. Filming begins in Ontario on Monday (25th) and will continue until July 22nd. You can also view more photos of the town here.

i would die to watch a silent hill movie....i never expected one consitering how old the first game is.......not counting the graphics, 1 is in my opinion the most terrifying....i have beat all 4 games, and liked them all but 4/the room......not as scary, and too easy...beat it in 5 days...if anyone knows where i can get a look at the movie, plz fill me in thanks
