I just wanted everyone to know the latest about the "8 Films to Die For" film festival, set for this November 17th-19th
Eight films that have selected to play in 35 cities over the exact same weekend. All eight films have been refused distribution for being too graphic.
We at "8 Films" would like to formally invite all the horror fanatics out there to buy a weekend pass on Oct 31st. The pass will give you all access over all three days. You pay once for 8 films, and a special unannounced 9th film on the final night.
You can buy your tickets on line at horrorfestonline.com
on Halloween.
Let's bring horror back to where it belongs, away from the push-up bras and the Japanses rip-offs and back to 100%, pure HORROR!
This festival is only for the horror fans- no celebrities, no remakes, only some genuine terror! Be there for the first ever AfterDark Film Festival!

Dark Ride looks ok.

I heard Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror will be a bonus ninth screening for the fans that attended all 8 movies. If you ask me, its the ONE film I really want to see.
I looked it up and it is supposed to be in limited release this weekend, but I can't find it.
You have to buy tickets individually now- I emailed the address on the website (which is now different) and got no response. I suggest buying the tickets from the vendors directly. DO NOT give your credit card info to any email on-line.
There is a list of theaters on the site
www horrorfestonline.com/theaters.html
I heard people have successfully bought tickets from the theaters. I have heard no one say they have successfully purchased tickets through the site- so be warned!

I'm looking forward to this.

The movies will probably have DVD releases individually, but not like a set (ex. Masters of Horror)
2 of them are getting their own theatrical release in February- not sure which ones.

I watched Dark Ride last night, nothing special but pretty entertaining.
Plenty of gore and it has the fat kid from The Sandlot in it.
7/10
I want to see The Hamiltons next.

They are coming to DVD now. March 27th. I can't wait to get the box set. I just hope they are worth buying.

I didn't get to watch them at the theatre. Wanted to, but didn't.
Are these movies worth it?

Did it really? I heard it was the "favorite" out of the 9 movies.
Then again, they were trying to hype it for the second theatrical release in Februrary.
I guess no one has seen the 7 that are coming out on DVD.
Oh well, I'll probably just end up renting all 7 of them at the local Movie Gallery. That will be a lot cheaper than buying the boxset at $150.

Horrorfest 2007? Going Global?
8 More Films 2 Die 4?
SWEET!!!
Oct./Nov. can't get here soon enough.
dawsey28
Tickets go on sale in Sept. Awesome!!!

Well, they came out on DVD today.
dawsey28
Yes, they did and...
...So far, I have watched Unrest and Penny Dreadful
I didn't really care for Unrest. Nice story, but they didn't do enough with it. I don't know, it just seemed like it wasn't enough. And I felt like there wasn't a big enough challenge for the main character. Bad idea to start with this one. I had a hard time putting in the next DVD, BUT...
... Thankfully, the next one I watched was Penny Dreadful. Talk about a complete One- Eighty. This one is intense, has a good story that is fully explored and the main character is challenged to the fullest. I'm surprised a B-Movie could be that good. It is a B- movie, though. I may be over-hyping it a bit. The movie was such a nice surprise after being underwhelmed by the first movie.

"8 Films to Die for" is a collection of films.
dawsey28
I have watched all 7 movies that came to DVD.
UNREST
PENNY DREADFUL
THE GRAVEDANCERS
THE HAMILTONS
REINCARNATION (RINNE)
DARK RIDE
WICKED LITTLE THINGS
I liked all them to some degree.
My favorite two were Penny Dreadful and The Grave Dancers.
I have to admit though, none of them are terrible, BUT they are certainly NOT "Films to Die for" as the name suggests.

Are there going to be any new films premiere at Horror Fest?
dawsey28
There are supposed to be 8 new movies playing on a weekend in either Oct or Nov 2007. No word on what they will be yet.

just watched Gravedancers, and i have to say that i enjoyed some of the risks taken for such a low key independat movie. Some of the writing and acting took away from the story, but thought it was pretty decent.
I watched this movie with my friends. Being huge fans of the HBO Rome series, we were surprised to see The guy that play Pullo in this movie (harris) Near the end of the movie when the spirits were really getting pissed off and the film hit it's stride in the suspense depatment. the atmosphere between my friends and i became quietly focused on the movie. during the scene where the chick gets killed, my friend shouted out breaking the silence " OH come on Pullo, thats BULLSHIT, Roman kick that son of a bicth or something!" Best part of the movie for me. roman kick that son of a bicth... His remark instantly reminded me of the scene in ninja turtles where mikey ond donnie are watching a cartoon of the tortoise and the hare, where mikey busts out "come on, ninja kick the damn rabbit!" My favorite part of ninja turtle aswell

DARK RIDE-kills took forever to start then forever just to get to another, gore was good, but the overall story do to the time inbetween kills was just sad, made the movie boring to me.
THE GRAVEDANCERS-havent seen it.
PENNY DREADFUL-yeah two hours of some chick sitting in a car........wow i was so terrified and then to find out the killer was (spoilers ahead) some nut bag chick who wasnt anything special that was the icing on the cake of lameness.
REINCARNATION- sick stuff creepy too ok stuff.
THE HAMILTONS- interesting movie you dont find out whats really truly going on till the end underneath all the gore and stuff, its good for what it was. ok movie
UNREST also good movie, violent, and disturbing at times ok movie
WICKED LITTLE THINGS. .........eh it was eh.
Wolfie
Dark Ride was okay. It was interesting at first and went down a steady hill into getting less interesting.
Wicked Little Things was pretty boring throughout. It had some good scenes but they were few and far between.
Mider999
i dont see what was so freaky about these movies that they could not be viewed by general audiences ive seen gorier movies then these ones like stay alive is probably gorier, hellraiser FOR SURE is gorier, halloween 2 with no editing is gorier
Wolfie
"Films to die for" is nothing more than a title.
dawsey28
That was the marketing ploy.
Other than Reincarnation, who would watch any of these films if they didn't say something to make them sound the least bit interesting?
Personally, I liked all of them, but I have a weird taste in movies.
akema
does anyone know if/when the Snoop Dogg one is coming to dvd?
dawsey28
^
It already has. I was so excited when it did.
^
Yes, that is a delayed reaction.
Anyway, the new movies have come to DVD. Has anyone seen them? Thoughts?
dawsey28
Thoughts on any of these movies?
Anyone see the new movies? Are they any good?
moviebuff1084
I really enjoyed the last 8 films i cant wait to see the new ones
ragesRemorse
Didnt think to much of the first ones, but the one's i caught in the theater this last Oct were not to bad at all. i saw tooth and nail, unearthed and mulberry street. The concepts were thoroughly entertaining. The execution missed the mark a bit, but still alot of fun, especially considering what they had to work with. I'm excited to see the rest.

Tripper is a good party or stoner movie...,not much more.
I thought the abandoned was boring
moviebuff1084
yeah the abandoned is the only movie from the first set of the 8 films that i dont own i rented it for free and i wanted my money back
dawsey28
Yes, Abandoned was beyond BORING. The only thing I enjoyed about it was that it reminded me of Resident Evil 4 for some reason.
Just look at the backgrounds and the truck in the movie, you'll see what I'm talking about.
