What are your thoughts on 3D horror movies? Some ones that have been out are Amityville 3-D, Jaws 3-D, Friday the 13th 3-D, Night of the Living Dead 3D. And some more are due out soon like Piranha 3D and Final Destination 4 3D. I like 3D, I reckon it puts you in the film more than a normal movie.

MMMMHHHHHHMMMM.
Kaaaay.
I get your point, About it getting the feel that it puts you IN the movie.
But really, I think 3-D ruins the actual movie.
Makes it childish.
Just my thoughts.

Not being rude to you Deathbycorn, but I couldn't care less for 3D effect movies except in a theme park ride. I can't stand it, I just want to watch a film normally thank you.
You mean where you have to wear those special glasses right and it looks like the stuff on the screen is coming towards you? that type of 3D.
deathbycorn
Of course that type of 3D! No skin off my nose!
I love it! How can't you like Jaws coming out of your TV and nearly taking your head off!
Impediment
Because Jaws 3 sucked ass.
deathbycorn
If you say so. You obviously don't like cheese.

Final Destination 3 was originally filmed using the 3D method, thats why all the kills are stuff flying at the screen etc, but they changed their minds at the last minute.
deathbycorn
Hey thanks for that info papabeard, FD3 has some decent deaths in it. Not a bad film. The 2nd is the best Final Destination though.
MildPossession
Talking of Final Destination, the fourth one is going to be 3D. I agree with the second one as the best Final Destination film.
deathbycorn
Yeah I said that in the first post!
That was mainly why I started this thread cause Piranha and FD4 are coming out in 3D.
MildPossession
Ah I didn't read all the 3D movies part.

I once saw some 3-D horror sci-fi movie at disney world. I couldn't have been older than five, but i remember hating that movie.
I like the 3-d imax movie's that are filmed using 70mm (imax formatted) film. I suppose, if some insane studio felt like producing a full length horror movie on 70mm film to be shown in 3-d. I would go see it. However, i can't even tolerate dogshit, 35mm movie's blown up to fit an imax screen. 3-D blood splatter would be orgasm inducing though.
deathbycorn
I think Event Horizon was originally going to be filmed in 3D as well.
Watch it and tell me otherwise. Heaps of shit comes towards the screen like it is supposed to come out if you were wearing 3D glasses.
ragesRemorse
haha, i could see that, but by that logic, one could assume that ridley scott movies are all filmed to be in 3-d. I love me some Ridley Scott, one of the best visionaries around, but what is up with him and particles? He always has some kind of snow, rain or pollen effect going on in certain foreground and background shots.
jTyler
Not a real fan of the 3-D experience.
deathbycorn
I'll be watching that, the original isn't that good IMO, so I'll see the 3D remake. That Jamie King was pretty good in They Wait too.
I just made some 3D glasses cause I got copies of Friday the 13th 3-D and Jaws 3-D to watch, they were ripped from Japanese VHD discs. They should look fairly good on my HD telly.
I hope when these new 3D films get released on DVD after their 3D cinema runs, that they get released as 3D DVD's with pairs of 3D glasses. Then maybe companies will think about releasing the old 80's 3D movies on DVD.
MildPossession
I didn't think much of the original either.
PIRANHA 3-D
The principal photography start date on Alexandre Aja's film has been pushed back to March/April of 2009. That's a big change from the fall start Aja has talked about in the past. The delay was the size of the project and the prep work needed to execute Aja's 3-D visuals. "There just wasn't enough time for pre-production to get it done in time," says one insider. "It's all about pre-production and trying to make it the best it can be."

A trailer is out for My Bloody Valentine 3D. Ooooh, I can't wait to see this!
Watch the trailer @ IGN
MildPossession
That didn't work for me, so had to find it somewhere else.
It looks more interesting than the original for me, didn't think much of the original.
deathbycorn
It looks like a stupid teen horror in the vein of I Know What You Did Last Summer, but thats not stopping me from seeing it. I wanna see a pik-axe get thrown out of the screen and I have to duck for cover! Now thats a true movie going experience!
deathbycorn
There is a deluxe edition of Friday the 13th 3-D coming from Paramount Home Video and includes a pair of 3-D glasses and the 3-D version of the film.
Thats sweet news, its the first time its been released on DVD with 3-D format.

It was just a very poorly made movie. Bad acting, bad SFX, and the movie itself is just very forgettable. I'd almost rather watch Jaws 4 again.
The only 3-D horror movie I would want to see is the upcoming Piranha remake by Alexandre Aja.
steverules_2
MBV looks like it'll be pretty good
deathbycorn
Final Destination 4 is going to be gold in the form of a film.
steverules_2
I am looking forward to that one as well

ragesRemorse
It actually doesn't look as bad as i would have expected. It looks like a movie i will highly anticipate renting or pirating. I might even check it out when it hits the cheap seats just for the 3-d gimmick. Yeah, it will probably be bad but it looks to have a nice polish and sensible direction and that is all you can really ask out of a glorified B movie.

It seems to show how a lot of the characters die though outside of the premonition but hope that's red herring editing.
Ha ha, I love the car tire bit with that girl! "Have you lost your minddddddd", splat. I like the look of it, I was a thinking it might be a bit boring with the race track element but see they have added what looks like a shopping mall collapse sequence in, looks interesting.
One thing I didn't like though, near the start of the trailer it shows some nuts slowing turning on their own like death is turning it so that the fencing gives way, I can't remember in any of the other films that happening in the premonition deaths, it's always human means starting everything on its course in those scenes.
As long as he goes The Hills Have Eyes remake direction, instead of his mediocre remake of Mirrors, then I will be happy. Cast is looking rather good.
MildPossession
Zzzzzzzzzzzz, the second was bad enough. But a new one in 3D...
