Actually...I'd prefer they just let the TV versions die and get it all right with the new Trek movie reboot.

I'd definitely enjoy watching this. Animated or not, going backwards in time was a huge mistake with the launch of Enterprise. Forward is the only way to go with a new series. But, as with all shows, this will be about the chemistry with the main characters. TOS had it in spades, and DS9 I felt is the only series that did really, really well with having a plethora of 'main' characters.
