Must have watched the one from 1990.

First Captain America was disappointing and rather uninspired feeling, especially given that I enjoyed Thor very much. I don't have great hopes for this, which is quite a shame, but part of that may be that a) Avengers has a proper director and is thus looking so much better than the others, and b) I'm suffering from a major case of comic film overload.

i enjoyed the first one a whole lot.. the second one should be good as well..

I actually felt the same. There was no stunning action sequence in Captain America. Unlike Thor, Iron Man and Clearly Avengers.

But hopefully they will rectify that in the sequel.

To avoid competition likely by giving the film more time to make money until the other blockbusters show up. Guardians of the Galaxy is opening in August of that same year to avoid the competition likely.

not really a surprise.. Marvel has hinted at a Winter Soldier solo film so if people like him in Cap 2 than yeah...

Seeing as the seeds were planted in the last film, and Winter Soldier was one of the best & most recent arcs (actually, everything done on Cap by Ed Brubaker has been great) - it's a logical choice.

Looks like Anthony Mackie will suit up as the Falcon.

He sounds guarded in his response, and could be open or not open. Harrison Ford talked like that in-between the Star Wars films - not sounding enthusiastic but then turning on the enthusiasm once he's signed. They're likely not going to get to Red Skull again for some years, anyway. Marvel Studios has a plan and they're sticking to it.

The paycheck was there. He said in an interview that they would just feed him the lines with no context whatsoever, no script. From his perspective he just said some random lines into a microphone and got a huge paycheck. He got paid for what almost amounts to nothing. So it wasn't that big a deal to do the voice acting.

He could have been genuinely interested in trying the role and then after he movie decided he didn't enjoy it so much. I don't understand what the big deal is.

He loves acting on the stage; maybe he's just pining for that right now, instead of acting for cameras with lots of green screen. Stage actors go through these phases where they feel guilty for making so much money for movies but feel unchallenged as an actor, compared to a blank stage and a live audience. At least Weaving is acting more classy than Shia Lebeouf did recently regarding indie films vs. blockbusters. People thought Liam Neeson was ready to quit acting after Star Wars: Episode I, but his comments at the time were totally blown out of proportion and he's continued on with big & small films.

I like the Heroic Age/Commander Rogers costume, but if they're going that route, they may as well drop the helmet.

I like the political thriller angle.

That's how it should be. That's the territory Ed Brubaker moved Steve into; not fighting costumed baddies ala Spider Man, like in the old days. He's a politically connected hero, so terrorism and espionage should be the focus for him.

Marvel has the same formula for the movies - Captain America: political thriller. Iron Man: James Bond-y jet set type actioner. Hulk: Monster movie. Thor: SciFi/Fantasy epic.

Hope we see Crossbones wear he famous mask, All that's been shown of Frank Grillo the actor who plays him, Him wearing some sort of SWAT uniform.

If I have any criticism, it's that many of the MCU film posters are starting to look the same. But that may be a conscious design choice, part of the uniformity of their continuity.

Its almost always good for films but you don't put much stock in it?

I'm saying most films receive early WoM that is positive even if the film ends up being terrible.

Not totally sure I agree with "most" films tbh, also the details are a little different here. The fact that there were early screenings and Disney allowed people to start talking so early leads me to believe the hype a little more for this film.

The way John Campea is absolutely gushing about this movie....his movie taste is very good he seems to think it's the best movie of the year so far including the Lego movie(which was also critically acclaimed). Very excited now.

Not totally sure I agree with "most" films tbh, also the details are a little different here. The fact that there were early screenings and Disney allowed people to start talking so early leads me to believe the hype a little more for this film.

Plenty of films do this. You're right though it is earlier than most films and, even more importantly, the Russos have already been hired to do Cap. 3, so at the very least Marvel is confident in the film.
