It's suggested that Batman's standard, non-prep gear is more powerful than SHIELD's higher end personal tech (eg. a bio electic phaser that Nick Fury stated was created specifically to take down the most powerful masks).

SHIELD tech allows to aid mortally wounded and deal with super-threats like Omega Red or even the Silver Surfer (credit goes to Stark actually for that one, but whatever).
