Time to start a thread for this movie adaptation

Jim Carrey will be in this one

i'm wondering how far they're sticking to that scene in the neighbourhood since its fairly graphic in the comic.

Haven't read the Kick-Ass 2 yet because the first comic left a bad taste in my mouth. The movie seemed to fix all of its faults.

Jim rocks and I love Olga. Good choices.

I've been too that store he walked into. lol How cheesy is Toronto. I'm not sure if thats one of the stores that is going to be broken down but most of the stores above are going to be torn down to build more condos. It's a shame because Toronto doesn't have to many home store fronts anymore.

the ninjak
Film looks awesome.

And in regards to all the peeps on the internet complaining about how different this movie is compared to the comic....that's a good thing.

Kickass rocked because it purged all the crap from the comic and kept the parts that worked.

Kickass was a terrible comic and a great film. Formula seems to work.

Kazenji
Haven't read the first comic

only read Part 2 and the Hit-girl mini which bridges the gaps between Part 1 & 2, Enjoyed both i did

going by the trailer they've changed

As long as Carrey put his heart into the movie before he made this decision, it shouldn't affect his performance. Sure as hell gonna see KA2 tho.

Kids get killed all over the world on a daily basis.

Carey knew it was a violent movie to begin with...you're telling me he didn't bother watching the 1st one?

Kazenji
Yeah i know people have gone overboard with that event

yes kids dying is bad...but what about the ones in warzones.

Esau Cairn
Apparently Carrey's just written a children's book called, How Roland Rolls.

So maybe it's got nothing to do with Sandy Hook but instead his publicity team telling him it's not gonna help promoting a kid's book & a violent movie at the same time.

Lestov16
I saw this movie yesterday night. Phucking sucked. Tone, pacing, and characterization were all over the place, and the plot had the substance and stability of wet tissue paper. A barely entertaining and vastly inferior sequel to the original IMO. There was some funny stuff ("Call me The Motherphucker"wink and Mother Russia was kinda cool, but the good didn't outweigh the bad in this case. Jim Carrey, John Leguizamo, and Donald Faison are horribly wasted, and are pretty much walking extended cameos. All I know is that I wasted a perfect opportunity to see Elysium to see KA2, and it really wasn't worth it. sad

I give KA2 6/10 (at best) for it's occasional witty humor and a few roughly decent action sequences, but all in all a rather bland and lame film experience that only just barely captures a glimpse of the greatness of the first one. I can't recommend seeing it unless you've seen EVERYTHING in theaters now up to and including Grown Ups 2

Kazenji
Did they kill off Jim Carry's character early?,

Lestov16
Around maybe the half-way point, if not beforehand. He was pretty much the cliff notes version of Big Daddy and an extended Jim Carrey cameo. A complete waste.

Lestov16
One scene that was particularly jarring to me, but didn't seem to bother anybody else, is the scene where Red Mist and his gang raid the house of Night Bytch, KA's ally. He outright attempts to rape her, but he can't remain erect, and his erectile dysfunction is supposed to be some kind of hilarious joke. In the middle of an attempted rape scene no expression . Again, maybe I'm taking things too seriously, but it just seemed like such a massive and uncomfortable tonal shift.

Kazenji
Half-way?

seems did alot more with him it seems, He gets killed off early in the book.

Lestov16
He had maybe 10 minutes of screentime. Maybe.

Kazenji

The ****?

so they're not okay with using a rape scene with Kick-Ass's girlfriend from the first movie, but they go with that.

Lestov16
I was practically squirming in my seat when it happened. I mean I understand the KA films are....excessive, but rape? We really had to go there? And simply for a stupid erectile joke? Not cool, filmmakers. Not cool.

Kazenji
Did any kids get killed in it?

Lestov16
Red Mist dies obviously, but besides that nobody under the age of 21 gets killed. The villains even spare a dog's life rather than kill it.

Kazenji
I know the dog your talking about

in the book they behead it.

Lestov16
LOL

I think another thing that drags this film down are the piss-poor, lame, and irrelevant subplots, namely Mindy's "Mean Girls" arc, which concludes with bodily humor that would make Adam Sandler wince.

Robtard
Massive let down, doesn't hold a candle to the first film, poor plot, poor subplots, acting was lame for many of the characters, most of the fighting was meh and was little more than a 'look at Hit-Girl' show for the pedos. You know who you are.

Lestov16
Yes, Robtard. We know exactly who you are. It must have taken the willpower of God to keep you contained during that cheerleading scenestick out tongue

Lestov16
it's hilarious how there is no tension or anything at the end of the film about Kick Ass's friend selling out his father to be killed horribly. I guess saving that fat kid just redeemed everything, right? laughing out loud

I think this is one of those films that suffers from having so many sub-plots that the film can't resolve all of them. Another example is Kick Ass and Night Bytch. Hit Girl is clearly jealous when KA tells her about NB, but this leads to nothing and HG and NB don't share a single line of dialogue.

Kazenji
Really?........another change from the book

his dad gets killed in prison

also what's this about Hit-Girl leaving the city which i've read?

Lestov16
That's what happened. The police do a cape crackdown and he gives himself up as Kickass to protect his son. He goes to jail, and while there, KA's friend tells Red Mist who KA's dad is, and he sends prison thugs to murder him.

At the end, Hit Girl tells Kick Ass that she has to leave NYC since the police will want her because she killed 8 people with a cop's gun (although I thought she had her own arsenal?) and it would be too difficult and emotional to explain to Morris Chestnut. I guess they did it because they realize if they had her go back to being Hit Girl or normal girl again, it would completely FUBAR any character development she had during the film.

This film would have been SOOOOO much better if they didn't waste time with that utterly ridiculous and ultimately disgusting Mean Girls plot, and used that time to develop the new Justice Forever characters and plot. I honestly thought the cheerleading segment was going to be the first 5 minutes of the movie, and was mortified to see it took up about 1/2 if not 2/3 of the film. Although there was one funny scene IMO where the Mean Girls try to initiate her at a sleepover and she gets virtually hypnotized by a Jonas Brothers video, and it's a cult-like "One Of Us. One Of Us." kind of thing. That was amusing IMO, but still not worth the subplot. I guess they added it for Robtard's enjoyment wink

It was also odd to see Hit Girl letting these children compared to her (she calls herself precocious at various times in the film) bully her at the "party", when not only is she not the kind of person to take crap, but could easily have crippled every single one of them. But she got her vengeance in a far more disgusting manner.....

Kazenji

.

She ends up getting caught by the Police in the book

this is her in Kick-Ass 3
VV

Lestov16
I think they didn't go with that because it would seem like a blatant attempt to get a sequel, which is unassured (and probably not happening) at this point.

Kazenji
Also the the way people have describe the whole "Mean Girls" part on here, Seemed to have done it better with the book.

Lestov16
Was that sub-plot in the book as well?

Kazenji
Yes it was

not sure how it went for the movie, But its all about Mindy trying to fit in and be normal then you have a bunch of girls picking on her.

Lestov16
Same as the film. It was really unnecessary though. The story arc ended with HG hitting them with some kind of bodily-fluid-loosener, causing them to puke and shit all over the place. Is that what happened in the book too?

Was the comic book well received?

Sorry it wasn't in the Kick-Ass 2 comic...my bad

it was in the Hit-Girl comic that they did it was suppose to fill in gaps between the two books

With the comic she ended up scaring the main leader of the girl group (Debbie) by dangling her off the school roof in an attempt to make Debbie her best friend

It was mixed, pretty much like the first one.

It's still not due out in a couple of days so I can't give my opinion.
However Chris Mintz says in an interview that that scene wasn't meant to portray any sense of humour. He says that although he plays an evil character, the scene is meant to convey that he truly wasn't "bad at heart". The fact that he couldn't get an erection to commit the rape was meant to show that even he knew that was "crossing the line".

laughing Just as Rob said, what a load of absolute horseshit. That scene was clearly played for laughs, and they didn't imply of any of that "crossing the line" crap at any point. He tried to outright rape her, got a limp dick for laughs, and instead had her beaten to the point of hospitalization. At no point does Red Mist imply he has any sort of conscience, morality, or regret during the act. Matter of fact, it was proof of his loss of morality, considering how he was influenced by his uncle killing John Leguizamo.

So yea, Chris Mintz is trying to cover his tracks with a bold-faced lie. Even though Mintz is of no fault. The dumbass writers and directors who wrote that stupid scene into the film are to blame. Some things need to be left in the comics... erm

also there must be a post credits or someone's just making shit up on wikipedia

Esau Cairn
I rewatched the 1st one lastnight...looking forward to seeing no.2 tonight.

Esau Cairn
I saw it lastnight & thoroughly enjoyed the movie for what it was...a decent sequel.

I don't think the rape scene was as bad or tasteless as some commented...the fact that Mother F was always trying to live up to his father's reputation & failed miserably was the main focal point of the rape scene...a boy trying to be a man & failing. The audience laughed at Mother F furiously masturbating & even Night ***** made a belittling comment at Mother's inadequacy.
The entire film was based on no one taking Mother F seriously.

I also didn't see the big deal about Mindy & The Mean Girls. That sub-plot didn't dominate the entire story & held true to what a 15 yr old girl would endure trying to fit in school & the cool crowd.
I liked the fact that she announced that she was proud to be a superhero rather than a stuck-up rich girl & later in the film, the cops exposing her real identity would've shattered the rich girls' mentality.
2 highlights for me was the lawn-mower scene with the cops & HitGirl's fight with Mother Russia.

Kazenji
I know there's a heap of changes from two books (Hit-Girl & Kick-Ass 2) to the movie

another one i picked up was he travels to Asia to learn Martial Arts like Batman Begins, but with the movie he goes to some gym to do that.

I actually bought Kick Ass about 3 weeks ago. Personally I prefer Nick Cage in the Film Leaving Las Vegas...maybe that's just me and my personal defects laughing

Dr Will Hatch
Kick-Ass 2 was pretty good. I wish it had made more money. Yet, I liked the comic book better. It was more willing to commit to its brutality, which is also how I felt about the first film/comic.

evoone
Forget Jim Carrey, I think this film will surprise a lot of doubters.
Looking forward to it.
