I was surprise to find no thread about it so I made one. So far I love how they combine the 80s cartoon with the 2000s darker tone. Though CGI will take some time getting used to.
wakkawakkawakka
Not sure what to think. Still think the 2000 one was the best though that could probably be a bias against the CGI that's used.
Demonic Phoenix
It's still just the first two episodes that have been released, so we'll have to see how it turns out. I liked the premiere though. Those Kraang were a good source of humour with their language redundancies, though I was surprised to see the creators combining Krang and the Utroms into the Kraang, as well as Hamato Yoshi and Splinter's backstories.
The CGI was also pretty good, but I still prefer the look of the 2003 series. The Shredder also does not look half as menacing as he did in the 2003 series.
Either way, as far as it being an adaptation to the TMNT mythos goes, it is off to a good start IMO.

After todays new episode im sold! I have always been a turtle fan. As a kid I loved the originals. It took a few episodes for it to get going but im content with it!
I loved that they learned the "we seek victory not fairness"!
Demonic Phoenix
Indeed. Finally acted like ninjas.
SamZED
Watched 3 episodes. Like it so far. Reminds me of Teen Titans - fun stories that end with valuable life lessons. Kinda kiddish but serious when it counts. Hope it gets even better as the show progresses, needs more characters and more chemistry. Also Splinter is effin hilarious, I LOLed several times.
PS Always thought Greg Cipes (Beast Boy, Iron Fist) would make an awesome Mikey.
KingD19
I love how they differentiate between joking/normal and serious mode when they go white eyed.
And yes, Splinter is hilarious. I love his little quotes.
"The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do looooooots of harm!!
Or when he was talking to Leo about Leadership.
Leo: So you'd have let any of us be leader if we asked?
Splinter:...Yes.
Leo: Even Mikey?
Splinter.....Of course not.
SamZED
Lol yeah. Its even funnier because of what he said 10 seconds before that.
Splinter: There are NO such things as Right and Wrong.
Leo: So you'd let Mikey be our leader?
Splinter: Ofcourse not. That'd be wroooooong... LOL
cdtm
Overall, I'm liking the show.
I'm loving the character development, and the way none of the personalities feel forced.. The 2003 toon was great, but the turtles there were modeled pretty heavily on the 1980's toon, and their personalities felt a lot more stilted, like they weren't real people but actors saying lines.. Even little touches like Leo and Raph banging fists after ninja sneaking across rooftops immerses you in the characters.
I'm also loving Splinter. Best Splinter ever, no question.
But the "Anime-esq" touches, I could do without. Exaggerated tears and sweatdrops just don't work in 3d..
Also, as a Mikey fan, I'm hoping down the line he gets to beat one of the top dogs again, like he did to Raph in the 2003 show. I mean, Raph fans got to see him beat Leo straight up, how about giving us Mikey fans something too.. (Ok, so Mikey did beat evil Chuck Norris....
)
KingD19
He didn't just beat him. He beat him with a move he taught him, that he hadn't even known for more than a day.

*Nods* Hints at him being potentially the best fighter of the group, if he took his training more seriously.
Kind of makes him the Ken Masters of the Turtles, I guess.

To be fair, that Kata Mikey used to take down Bradford was pretty uber, as it was able to take down someone far more skilled than all the 4 Turtles combined.
But yeah, Mikey's probably going to be the most agile & fastest one out the 4, again. Raph's still the strongest one, the best fighter, and he's snarkier than ever. Leo's the leader and strategist, and Donny's the smart one. srug

So far, I like it more than the 2003 series. The voice-acting is much better, humour is more light-hearted, and the Turtles all have their own quirks.
Agreed. Him being taller and younger also contributes IMO.
Meh, you get used to it. After all, the Turtles become white-eyed when in combat, as a nod to other series', so the other stuff is alright I suppose.
Also, the show must be doing well. They just renewed it for a second season.
KingD19
Splinter never disappoints. I love this show.
NotAllThatEvil
I really like all the characters' personalities and sense of humor, but I'm not to keen on the whole Donnie/April thing they're doing, and based on the last few episodes, .thats going to be their biggest running joke/plot device..
SamZED
I dont mind April/Donnie, didnt see it coming but whatever.
Shredder is up next! ZOMG
xtinataguba
i love ninja turtles, my kids re enjoying watching them too.
SamZED
Gauntlet was awesome. Pretty dark for a kids show and compared to other episodes. This show reminds me of Teen Titans in a way.
KingD19
Splinter yet again doesn't disappoint.
Mikey: This is serious, I'm gonna go get Master Splinter.
Leo: You really don't have to-
Mikey: -NINJA SMOKEBOMB-
Splinter: -half a second later- Michelangelo said you wanted to see me?

The moments where Splinter humourously and casually pwns his sons are amongst the best moments in the series.
Anyway, gais, favourite turtle, and favourite character?

Leonardo: Who would be interested in alien robot tech?
Leo/Raph/Donny: BAXTER STOCKMAN!!
Mikey: Donatello...Baxter Stockman!!
Mikey and Splinter are great.
Scarlet Fox
I remember the other day of an old Power Rangers in Space episode where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 'The next Mutation' did a guest appearance. The graphics and effects were cheesy even for its time but it was still awesome xD

For nostalgia's sake, I'd say Raph, but I think I like Donatello more than the others in this series. Leo's pretty cool too, and while he may not always see through people the way Raph does, he's a far better strategist.

But he's not fodder in the original movies, and the 2003 cartoon that's gotta count for something. Mikey is a whole lot more comedic fodder in this series, but he was a much better fighter, and at the very least second best fighter in those two.

It would be epic to see Casey appear, all toned up, and wearing a hockey mask, and junk and reveal he had been him after knowing who the turtles were.
xD So I just kinda caught up on the series, and Splinter's two finger punch to Rat King was epic. And Mikey complaining about not getting to name the Rat King. I do have to say Splinter is one amazing character. And I AM kind of glad they took the root of Splinter being Hamato Yoshi because that makes a lot more sense. As much as I like the original comics, and the original movies Splinter being a rat that somehow is a superb unbeatable marital artist just doesn't work.
I-Drop
Not a big fan of this show. The last series was waaaaaaay better. Don's my favorite turtle & this series doesn't seem to be giving him his due

Mikey has always been the most talented of the four, the problem is -he lacks the focus. It was shown in the new show as well. Remember when Raph was trying to learn to fight without thinking? Mikey succeeded but he failed. The joke was that Mikey doesn't think period but it's also a feat of skill and talent IMO.

Even so, it was still just a joke, and the raw talent Mikey is meant to have really doesn't get shown. Though most of the spotlight is always to Leo anyway so it's not like Donny or Raph gets to showcase much either. But the shows still awesome imo cause of how it adds the elements all together from every other series.

I still feel like donny is gonna be the staff favorite for some reason. I feel like he has solved the problem in almost every episode.

Relax, was just joking. Seriously though, the guy's colour is orange, like another certain thick-headed ninja we know and like.
Yeah. A rat learning uber techs just by watching his master is a little far-fetched, relatively speaking.

That was Donatello who could not fight without thinking, not Raphael. Raphael pretty much charges head-first into a fight without thinking, most of the time.
Besides, Donatello does in fact fight without thinking later on in that episode.
And yeah, the prequel comic for this show states that Mikey has more raw talent than the other three combined, but does not train enough to harness that talent. Pretty ridiculous.

But Mikey is awesome, Naruto not so awesome. Actually though orange does seem to be the thick-headed person. Kento of Hardrock from Ronin Warriors is another one.

This may very well be my favorite animated series of the franchise (I'll go on record and admit I didn't really enjoy the 2003 series as much as I wished I could've). It not only hooked me the moment I was a third the way through the premiere (cemented as soon as Splinter decided to make Leonardo leader), but most of the show's own nuances do a pretty great job of carrying the humor-side of the show even with some of the liberties to more strongly-established notions. I never get tired of those Space Heroes clips, the Kraang are the Department of Redundancy Department incarnate (my most favored TvTropes trope among the tropes I favor most upon the TV tropes website which I frequently visit on a regular basis), and the extent of Donnie's crush on April hasn't failed to crack me up yet (especially that clip with his laptop).
And I gotta say, some of the obscure references in episode 4 are really stealthily put in there; Bradford's clearly a Chuck Norris pastiche, that's no secret, but am I the only one who noticed the Action Jeans reference?
I was always huge on the Ninja Turtles as a kid, and this show is doing a damn good job of reminding me of that.
As for my favorite Turtle, it is and always has been Raphael, but this series does a helluva good job at making them all equally appealing every chance given.

"There are lights of a vehicle which contain that which you wish us to call "the turtles" coming to this place, which you wish us to call "here". "
"We shall destory the ones called the turtles who call themselves the turtles."
"Stop the one that needs to be stopped."
Love the Kraang.

I'mma go back to flopping on the floor and foaming at the mouth. I'm more hyped for this than the Brony community was for A Canterlot Wedding. Also note how Raph is decked out with a few extra weapons, notably the Tonfa on his back. I'd've liked to see him with a pair of Kama, personally.
And yes, that's Roseanne.
SamZED
Awesome.
Shredder vs Splinter cant wait.
Demonic Phoenix
Wonder what Shredder will say when he finds out Splinter is now a Rat. Though knowing him, he won't care.
But yeah, definitely psyched for this. Love this show.
emporerpants
Quick question, how is Leo in this? He was always my fav turtle. I heard some people say he kinda gets the short end of the stick here. Is that true?
KingD19
He gets sh*t from Raph all the time. But he has pretty much 100% loyalty from his brothers and Shredder. They all trust his judgement for the most part. He has gotten some bad moments, but he's learned from them.
emporerpants
See, I heard that Raph bullies the crap out of him and he's made out to be next to useless sometimes, and that no one else really gets moments as bad as his. What are his bad moments?
KingD19
I wouldn't call it bullying. It's just Raph being a jerk to everyone like he always is. But Raph gets his moments to get put down too, like when Mikey caught him talking to his pet turtle or when he freaked out after Mikey got hurt under his command(Leo let him take over to show him how hard it really was).
And most of it is just Raph poking fun at him for reasons like Leo liking a cheesy Star Trek bootleg or liking Karai.
emporerpants
So out of all 3 now of the turtles shows, how would you rank this one?
SamZED
Leo is kicking ass in the show, no idea why would anyone tell you he isn't.
Demonic Phoenix

Apart from Donatello, he's the most developed Turtle in terms of character, which is saying something, as they're all fairly developed as of the 23rd episode.
In terms of how well he does in combat, I'd say around half of their victories were due to his tactical prowess and skills, and he's slowly but surely stepping into his leadership role. In terms of actual combat prowess, he's a fairly close second to Raphael.
Leo hardly gets the short end of the stick in the show. None of the Turtles get the short end of the stick. They all have their moments of badassery and moments of embarrassment.
emporerpants
Awesome! I'll have to check out this show. Is there any release date for when the first season is on dvd?
BloodRawEngine
So yeah, episode 24 was kick ass. They've established quite a few plot points that have made me all the more hyped for the season finale coming up, especially the humungous amount of foreshadowing of the last two scenes alone. I mean the season finale's trailer was hype enough, and there's been plenty of build-up established just from the last 90 seconds.
As for flaws, aside from the same one that most episodes have--that is, having a somewhat rushed along pace with the plot of the episode at hand (which is ultimately minor)--I suppose people who might dislike the notion of Donatello being arguably the most touched-upon turtle aren't really given anything to go against their arguments in this episode. But hey, I've never not been amused by his crush on April in this one (especially that picture on his laptop in an earlier episode).
The Newtralizer, I'll assume, will be more delved upon in season 2 as with Mutagen Man and Casey Jones.

LOVED IT. It's official - TMNT currently is my favorite show.
Gotta love Raph at the end of the episode trying to make up for offending Donny. I was hoping April would at least give Donny a little kiss at the end of the episode.
What? Don't tell me it's weird, after Madagaskar 2 anything's possible.
KingD19
I actually would like to see them form some semblance of a relationship myself. Donnie wants it soooo bad.

Hey if a dragon and a donkey can have babies i dont see why this wont work...
A theory, what if in this show Karai turns out to be Splinter's daughter who supposedly died but instead got taken in by Shredder? Splinter did say she'd be around April's age and Karai is. We know nothing about her mother other than that she lost her and its doubtful that Shredder knocked up someone else while he and Splinter were battling for the same woman. Just a theory.
Demonic Phoenix
Pretty sure it's all but stated out loud that Karai is indeed Splinter's daughter.
SamZED
Good then its not just me. Weird how noone talks about it, should be awesome when the truth comes out.
NotAllThatEvil
So josh is gonna play Casey. Is it just me, or does he seem not... ney york enough.
BloodRawEngine
I'd post my thoughts/pros/cons on the Season Finale, but I'm still getting over the ****YEAHMEGAHYPE****YEAH that was the one-on-one fight between Splinter and Shredder. Not only was that pretty much the highlight of the finale, but it was by far the best fight between the two characters in any continuity I've seen. Really, it's proof that the whole Splinter being Hamato Yoshi, and not just his pet rat, was always a better move for plot reasons imo, or at the very least, this series definitely knows how to make the most of that idea. I've said before that this is prolly the most badass incarnation Splinter in any televised version, and this finale just cemented it.
That said, I only wish they didn't cut away from it as much as they did, but that's kinda a shared flaw that all the episodes of this series have had. And we didn't really see much of Dog Pound and Fishface aside from Splinter kicking their asses to the moon
Oh, and Karai is in fact Splinter's daughter Miwa. It was kinda obvious for anyone watching often enough, but it's nice to finally have it confirmed.
SamZED
Keeping thT in mind gotta say that Shredder is one sick $&@&. I can understand him trying to kill Splinter out of love for a woman. But that other part of his plan... that is exactly what he wanted to happen. And that's just all kinds of messed up. And he was laughing about it too.

Just watch all the episodes. But he was pretty cool in the 24th episode. He gained the upper hand over a non-serious Raphael in combat, and his wise-cracking reminded me of Spider-Man.
Plus the way the other three try and fail to break into a room that Donatello had earlier gotten access to, was hilarious.
SamZED
When he made a comment about Krang's mother I lol'ed
Demonic Phoenix
So, anyone else see the first episode of the second season?
Not as good as the first season's episodes IMO. Casey Jones appearing in the intro was a cool tease though.
BloodRawEngine
Could've benefited more as a two-parter, but I think April's father being mutated and her cutting all ties with the turtles for the time being is an interesting idea for some initial tension of the season for at least the next couple episodes. It's also a nice little correlation that should give Donnie some more incentive to find a reverse to the mutation effects. And yeah, I loved that little Casey Jones cameo in the new opening. I honestly can't wait to see him in the show.
P.S. Farting butt cannons.
BloodRawEngine
Bumping to say I just finished watching the latest episode Follow the Leader.
Great ep, best yet this season imo. Loved the action scenes and how the portrayed each of the boys' own zones so to speak, and how they bookended it in a way that also developed Leo's leadership role a bit, and the other brothers' respect for it. A mutual development. Some nice bit of progression for the peripheral plot of the season regarding Karai (not counting the stinger line from Splinter at the end), and there were about three or so witty little references to past continuities that I heard ("Your scanner's about as useless as a trenchcoat on a turtle."
.
KingD19
I lost it on the trenchcoat line.
SamZED
So am I the only one watching season 2?
So far I like it a lot. Can't wait till its all resolved with Karai. Maybe she'll even join the team. Casey was awesome. And I liked what happened to Dogpound.
KingD19
I wonder who his "partner" will be.

Gotta say, Bradford/Dogpound's new form as this continuity's Rahzar is probably my favorite mutant design on the show yet.
As for Casey Jones, I found myself liking Josh Peck's voice for him better than I thought I would. I'm hoping Jones finally starts coming into his own on his next appearance. I just hope April/Donatello fangirls would shut the f*ck up and do a little research on the character. I know it's a new continuity, but nine times outta ten, Jones has been the principal love interest of April. They even had a kid in the original comics.

Jones was awesome in the original comics.
Yeah, he's been there since the start. If people complain about him now, what would they say if he knocked Shredder on his ass and single handedly saved the turtles? They'd call it PIS, probably, even though that's exactly what he did in early Mirage.
BloodRawEngine
Okay, "Target: April O'Neil" watched, and I just plain gotta say this season is getting better by the episode. It feels like they're really beginning to tighten up the screws that gave the first season some pacing issues in each episode by-as IGN's review said-kinda combining the story arcs in each episode by justification of the past events that conceived some sort of link or convergence between the characters, all into something a little more cohesive, while still developing the more important or at least prominent little intricacies and pushing things forward at a much more satisfying pace. The big piece of progress was that April finally reconciled with the turtles, and while it's not inconceivable that they could've extended that arc along the entire season, a show like this cannot have such a confined plot point play out for that long without it getting stagnant, compared to something much more broad a la the mass city-wide outbreak of mutagen at the premiere (a pacing issue that I had with the 4Kids toon, which I ultimately found to be a pretty mundane series overall).
Casey Jones got to get in on some action, that's an insta-♥♥♥♥ yeah for me, and I like how it give some sensible background to his status as a more pragmatically sports-themed vigilante while also making use of the fact that he's now a teenager like April--he's a bit of a smart-ass but you can sense a lot of ambition in his actions and a lot of somewhat streetwise first-hand experience in his words, like that little tale he told April to help parallel what Donnie said at the start of the ep and put things into a grander perspective for her.
And of course, the ending of the ep with April giving Donnie a grateful peck on the cheek. I despise the Apri-Tello fangirls who do nothing but ***** an moan about Casey Jones, but as much a service as that last clip was for them, it was a long time coming in the show-as small, inconsequential a tidbit to the overarching story as it was-and the reaction was set accordingly over the top and amusingly so, and we got to hear another famous phrase of the franchise at long last.

So is Spike going to be Slash or Tokka? I'm assuming Slash from the name of the episode but him being Dog Pounds new partner would be awesome.
BloodRawEngine
The Comic-Con panel confirmed that he's becoming Slash. He's also gonna be voiced by Corey Feldman.
SamZED
The last episode with Casey was just awesome. I laughed so hard near the end.
BloodRawEngine
I haven't talked about the episodes since the hiatus. Obvious spoilers ahead:
Slash and Destroy was damn good. Not only did Corey Feldman knock it out of the park with his performance as Slash, but they also managed to really bring Raph's development a bit more into its own, something that I think was kinda lacking in the previous season compared to how much Donatello or Leonardo seemed to get (and that's not just cuz Raphael is my favorite turtle). The episode seemed to try playing Slash as more of a really dark grey morality since all things considered, he still seems to hold Raph close, and I never got the idea that he was absolutely beyond some form or redemption into at least an anti-hero of a lighter shade of grey--like, he might stop seeing Raph's brothers as road-blocks for Raph and more as rivals. Oh, and Leo at a tea party.
"The Good, the Bad, and the Casey Jones" not only is named after one of my all-time favorite films, but it turned out to be one of the best episodes this season. Probably the top three imo. Not only was the action taken up a great notch in each scene, considering we finally Casey Jones going all-out toe-to-toe with Raph as per damn near tradition of the franchise in almost every continuity, but the episode was also a really good continuation of the arc that started with Slash and Destroy, making for a pretty good transition and continuity that more or less helped Raph become more well-rounded while establishing one of the most notable cameraderies in the franchise next to that of the four turtles themselves. As someone who adores the first live-action movie, I was almost INSTANT in recognizing the reference they made as well.
The Kraang Conspiracy was okay. I obviously ain't expecting the show to continue raising itself higher and higher in terms of episode quality and whatnot, but I definitely think they managed to bring out the main plot points that they wanted, and those that have been a question for many regarding April since the first season. April-Derp I can only say I'm glad was apparently a one-time villain, because I found her presence kinda forced, as opposed to established.
Fungus Humongous turned out to be the first real filler episode since like, Invasion of the Squirrelanoids. While I liked the idea of the plot, it could'a been represented better. I didn't get the Fantasia reference the first time, but I still think it was kind of a waste of 45 seconds. The Captain Ryan cameo though, INSTA-WIN. BRING BACK SPACE HEROES GODDAMMIT! All in all though, I'd have to call it the weakest ep this season so far imo, but I still got my laughs.
Metalhead Rewired started out modestly enough, but eventually turned itself up to be a pretty good episode altogether. The sci-fi robot movie references were noticeable, but not blatant, the plot twist regarding Metalhead's loyalty was actually somewhat heartwarming, and the big revelation of all the largely absent Mutants turned out to be a pretty sensible plot twist all things considered, though I understand some who might complain it was kind of a "wrote-into-a-corner" escape, but it still managed to push forward a few major subplots like with April's father, and I honestly loved that few-seconds moment of semi-reconciliation between Raph and Slash, even though Raph clearly wasn't the central focus of this episode. I do still think it was a pretty risky choice to outright free all of the captive mutants, some of whom are more than likely still gonna be hostile, but I suppose it can be surmised as a way to make sure they're around for if and/or when Donnie finally finds a cure to the mutations. I just hope Leatherhead finds a way out of Dimension X, since he was one of the few who wasn't in Kraang captivity. Overall, an improvement over the two previous ones imo.
We have the Ice Cream Kitty to look forward to next, and while I expect that to be more in line as another filler episode, I do think it was about time to re-explore Mikey's largely franchise-consistent love for cats, and in a rather interesting little twist.
Demonic Phoenix
Anyone else watch the Manhattan Project episodes? Was an awesome two part mid-season finale.
I nearly fell out of my chair when the 1987 Turtles showed up.
SamZED
Same here. But other than that tbh I liked this finale a lot less than the first one. Not sure why but to me the story felt rushed and all over the place.
BloodRawEngine
I disagree. I think the plot points actually did a helluvalot better a job at conjoining than the season 1 finale did and in a much better pace.
SamZED
To each his own, I personally didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the first season finale. Tigerclaw's wrath episode was cool.
riv6672
I enjoyed the 2 parter. Nice shout outs. Nice shout outs as a whole, really.
This season's been pretty good, with action humor and angst all up in the mix. Plot threads developed/solved. Characters followed up on. Supporting cast, to include a season 1 cat, brought in.Good stuff.
Something i like is Casey Jones not being equal to the turtles. He really shouldnt be, and i think thats been made clear.
KingD19
Hahaha. Apparently Casey is an ass man.
BloodRawEngine
^People have been gravitating to it quite a few episodes before Casey has, pretty much since The Lonely Mutation of Baxter Stockman, especially if Tumblr posters are to be taken seriously.
Heh, taking tumblr posters seriously...

Anyway, with the season 2 finale probably just a couple episodes away, I can safely say that Season 2 has seriously upped the ante on everything I'd hoped it would have. Plenty more action with what looks like the animators putting in a lot more effort, Casey Jone's debut, some really badass new mutants (particularly Tiger Claw and Slash), some bigger plot points from the first season finally being touched upon and satisfyingly so in my opinion, some good character development for turtles who lacked a bit of it in the previous season (namely Raphael) humor and in-jokes that have only gotten better from the first season, Splinter proving on occasion why this is pretty much his most badass incarnation in the franchise, and there's really only two episodes I'd say I straight up didn't really like.
Anyway, I don't think there's been much discussion about Irma around here. She'd spent a lot of earlier episodes only being hinted at until "The Good, The Bad, and The Casey Jones". Since then, she's been in pretty much every opening scene involving April and Casey, and from what I can tell, she's been getting a little more sensitive and curious over being constantly ditched by April. She seems a bit sassier and snarkier than the '87 Irma as well, and her design overall has grown on me (I never found it bad, I just started off kinda neutral to it). Considering how close the season is to the finale, I doubt they're gonna do anything to introduce her to the Turtles right now, if that's gonna be an intention at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they do up her role a bit, a helluva lot of fans have been really fond of this Irma.
On an unrelated note, news has it that the series has both been renewed for a fourth season, and the Jason Biggs, who voices Leonardo, had to leave the show. I don't know who's been filling in for him in the recent episodes (Dominic something I believe), but from Season 3 onwards, Seth Green is reportedly going to be Leo's new voice. IGN or something should have the article.
KingD19
I think I could handle Seth as Leo...gonna take some getting used to, but he's not bad. I wonder why they didn't go after Michael Sinterniklaas, the guy who voiced Leo in the '03 TMNT.
Also, the one thing I'm kinda miffed about is them having Bradford(Razar) but not Tokka.

IMO, Season 2 started off okay (i.e. not as good as Season 1 did), but quickly became better than Season 1.
About the one complaint I have of Season 2 is that there just hasn't been enough of the Kraang and their hilarious conversations; and we need more appearances from Ice-Cream Kitty.
Am really glad this show is successful enough to have been renewed, again. Sucks that Jason Biggs left though.
~ Just watched the Kuro Kabuto episode. Is that pre-mutagen Bebop I spy in Zeck? Though I don't want the awesomeness that is Zeck to get mutated...
riv6672
This latest body switch episode was fun.
The probe innuendo was gold. Casey's butt fixation, easily understandable. At least he was gentleman enough not to stare when April stretched in front of him, boobs just filling half the screen...!
BloodRawEngine
Just finished the latest episode, Vengence is Mine, and damn, that was WHAM moment after WHAM moment to the very last second. The spoilers are honestly so serious that I'd have to say for now, you're gonna wanna watch the episode yourself. Overall, it's a helluva set-up for what the finale could offer on characterization.
SamZED
Holly $&@& is all I have to say.
BloodRawEngine
After a day, I wanna just say that I think the most surprising part of the episode aside from the reveal at the end with Karai's mutation was Shredder's last line in the episode: "I will avenge my daughter."
I said this on one youtube vid, but that felt like a serious wham line in Shredder's case, because now he actually seems to have at least a source of some SMALL morality in Karai, more than likely because of her being the daughter of the woman he loved, and it also really draws a parallel with how Tang Shen was revealed to have died in Splinter's story in this same episode. I see the story arc for Shredder and Splinter really touching up on that in the future.
KingD19
I love how Shredder simply refuses to take responsibility for his actions, especially when it comes to Splinter.
riv6672
When people say love is blind it means more than just loving someone despite imperfections.
It means self blindness, too.
Also, everyone is the hero in their own story.
Shredder is one messed up guy....
Really good episode!
Giant Anteater
Older TMNT was waaaaaaaaay better.
BloodRawEngine
^If you ain't gonna bother explaning, I ain't gonna bother saying anything besides: Nope. This is the best TMNT in a visual medium since the first movie.
riv6672
Agreed.
I have at least a passing acquaintance with all the toons. This is by far the best. The 2007 movie was in the ballpark, but this one has a sense of whimsy, and a freshness, owing to the de-aging (re-teening?) of the characters that puts it solidly ahead.
SamZED
The last one was a filler episode but it was hilarious. I honestly hope that stereotypical Asian guy becomes a recurrent villain. Also the last battle (the part with Casey) was brilliantly choreographed.
riv6672
Yeah i liked this episode.
Splinter seems really out of it, poor guy.
Nice to see April sort of acknowledging that Both Casey AND Donny like her.
I know enough to realize the line about Irma having power isnt a throwaway, so that'll be good.
Ho Shen's voice was familiar, but didnt catch the credits. Are there still Kraang underwater? Be weird if they found the dagger.
The power of pizza being showcased was terrific.

Thus entire episode was a parody of Big Trouble in Little China. Ho Chen was Lo Pan and voiced and modeled after James Hong the guy who played him in the movie. Purple Dragons then the turtles were the Three Storms. And April and Irma were the girls needed to turn him human again. They even did the scene where he catches the knife they throw at him. Great homage.
riv6672
Yeah, i guess that made Casey Jack Burton! i was just wondering who the voice actor was, though.
Also, Mikey's post pizza burp...frikkin' classic.
SamZED
Mikey as the most competent turtle was hilarious.
riv6672
He's NOT just a party dude...!
KingD19
Mikey has constantly been one of the best things about that show.
I wonder what Irma's "Power" will be revealed to be.
riv6672
She got turned into a giant once, but i dont know if they'll go there.
SamZED
Just watched the two parter. Awesome. But.. a cliffhanger? Really? Crap. Can't wait.
Also Leo going full badass mode was epic. Although I'm kind of upset that Irma ended up being a krang (apparently voiced by Godfrey lol) still a waste of potentially good classic character. Found it funny that in TMNT verse all humans are just apes Krang mutated with mutagen centuries ago.

j/k thanks

I know and I'm ashamed of myself! weep
But it's either that or waiting for months before they get the rights to air it on tv in my country but it's going to be with a crappy voiceover. Screw that, if I go to hell for it it'll be worth it.

I agree with that second spoiler part. I'm really not sure entirely what to think of that twist and, HUGE as it was, if was really for the better unless they try to make something of it later on, be it by showing us that there actually IS a real Irma, or bringing back Kraang Sub-Prime. I think it goes without saying alot of fans would prefer the former. Season 3 is supposedly hitting the air alot sooner than it took Season 2, so we'll know soon enough.
Anyway I read before that the season 2 finale was gonna take a darker turn here and there, and they weren't lying. Aside from, again, that second spoiler, I definitely think it was pretty effective, and certainly lays down the kind of foundation for what kind of crisis they'll be in for Season 3. The whole thing comes off not too unlike how Book two of Avatar ended. Pretty clearly, it's coming from another staple arc from the comic and the first movie, as well as being adapted from the comic in the '03 cartoon. Altogether, the best word to use for this finale was "intense". The turtles resources wore thinner and thinner as the circumstances escalated, and the sense of the ending was almost kind of reversed from how Season 1 ended--instead of the turtles triumphing and saving the city yet with Kraang Prime still alive, the city is being terraformed by the perfected mutagen with numerous citizens falling victim to it, the Turtles having to hide out somewhere, and Splinter still being alive. I'm also hoping that wasn't the last we see of Leatherhead after he finally managed to come back.
BloodRawEngine
So I was on Tumblr and while dodging hailstorms of Irma fanrage, I came upon this post that could turn out to be the second twist with the character. Again, MAJOR FINALE SPOILERS. http://syb3rstrife.tumblr.com/post/98015684210/hmmm-i-kinda-get-the-feeling-this-is-where-they
I had my own thoughts on what could turn out to be this continuity's own little twists on things with that concept. Like Irma actually turns out to have been an A.I. created by the Kraang who goes independent and gets a new robot body and switches sides. That would be kinda cool, as in going all the way with the twist about her, but in a way that fans would probably accept more than if they dropped things here and now for good.
riv6672
Yeah, not sure where that situation's going, if anywhere. Really intense episode though.
This week's breather episode was, well, so damn good.
Full of shout outs to the original comic, the first movie, certain horror genres, this was great to watch.
Add characterization, angst, drama, action and humor in equal parts...no complaints here.
SamZED
I like the horror movie approach they're taking but the last episode was a bit too much for a kids show I think. The swamp monster episode was only somewhat creepy.. but the last one has The Thing/The Faculty written all over it. I can see some people complaining after it gives their kids nightmares.
riv6672
Finally, new TMNT episodes!!!!
This article
http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/08/02/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-turtles-in-time-review
Reviews "Turtles in Time" better than i ever could. Spoilers inside.
It was overall fun, with an excellent ending that left me wishing i could travel one week into the future to catch the next episode...
riv6672
Hell yes yay!
Last couple episodes have been quite fun.
Guess all the turtle fans have moved on though, which stinks...
KingD19
I'm still here. Last episode was pretty sad.
riv6672
The mega Shredder episode? Why?
KingD19
Why is a general question. Which part made you wonder? Lol.
riv6672
Your post was a general comment.
I'm not so interested in clarification that i'm going to pursue a non answer though.
KingD19
Oh. I see what happened.
I was talking about the time travel episode with Tang Shen. The turtles were basically destined to be the cause of the birth of Shredder, everything that happened to Miwa/Karai, and Shen's death.
But I posted after Mega Shredder came out and I wasn't aware it had at the time.
And I thought you were saying "Mega Shredder...why?" Like it was a bad episode or something.
riv6672
This is some Mikey level shenanigans on our parts.
I thought you were being all jerky with me.
KingD19
Nah. That's just like a Turtle do, brah.
riv6672
New episode today.
Hopefully something featuring April a little more...
Kento
Oh my god, the latest episode....
Also David Tennant voicing Fugitoid.. That's just brilliant.
SamZED
What. The. Fuk. I did not see that coming. I don't think anyone did. I mean Splinter?! And then the whole fukng planet?! There was no subtlety about it too, Shredder just murdered Splinter. On-screen. With his blades. In a kids cartoon. Then the earth collapsed. Then Casey happily shouted "this is awesome". What was that about? Everybody is dead. Enjoy, kids! They'll have to pull some massive plot device out of their asses to fix this. And you know it's gonna get fixed.
KingD19
Well they're taking heavy inspiration from the 03 series, and Honeycutt is so advanced even thr Triceratons want his tech and know how. He'll probably take the turtles and Co on a journey where they see some alien worlds, then they'll get the time girl to take them back with their new knowledge and they'll do it right this time.
But this show just how complete Shredder's corruption has gone.
Kento
Yea, Renet is definitely going to have to be part of the solution... But Shredder's blades sticking straight up from the bottom of the screen past Splinter. That was insane and something I was like did they just really show that.
KingD19
Shredder is the biggest mass murderer in TMNT history.
Kento
Shredder's hate for Splinter made him like... the biggest mass murder in most series ever.
