Do you think that all of our reality could just be a higher beings dream?
Or that our entire universe (similar to Men in Black) could be a small part of something biggers universe?

Lord Lucien
Yes and yes. Another mystery solved by me.

Or that our entire universe (similar to Men in Black) could be a small part of something biggers universe? There is an idea - strange, haunting, evocative - one of the most exquisite conjectures in science or religion. It is entirely undemonstrated; it may never be proved. But it stirs the blood. There is, we are told, an infinite hierarchy of universes, so that an elementary particle, such as an electron, in our universe would, if penetrated, reveal itself to be an entire closed universe. Within it, organized into the local equivalent of galaxies and smaller structures, are an immense number of other, much tinier elementary particles, which are themselves universe at the next level, and so on forever - an infinite downward regression, universes within universes, endlessly. And upward as well. Our familiar universe of galaxies and stars, planets and people, would be a single elementary particle in the next universe up, the first step of another infinite regress.

Ever heard of the Unmoved Movers? God is quantum bacteria.

Or how about the theory that every bit of energy in the universe, all the matter and all the elementray particles that compose it, are themselves composed of one singular particle or quantum string that is everywhere at once.

Lord Lucien
String theory?

Nah that's pretty much where this series has been going from the start.

This is Philosophy, not Religion. This is outside the idea of the bible.

You can't differ from the Bible one nuance, Bat Dude?

You haven't formed your own ideas about the world? They are exactly what's written by about forty contributors over the course of 1600 years who had no communication with one another???

But who's to say it wasn't "divine intervetion." roll eyes (sarcastic)

Your mom's Divine Intervention.

OOOOOOOOOOOHHH!!

Bat Dude
Philosophy = the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge or conduct.

Being - Who we are and how we came to be

Knowledge - Understanding of the universe (and the things in it) and how they work

Conduct - How we are to act and behave

The Bible has all of that. So no, I don't believe that the Bible is disqualified from this discussion.

Why should I? The Bible's been right about everything so far.

That multiple writers over a long period of time with no communication with one another could write something that is so cohesive and historically accurate is a proof of its divine authenticity in itself. But you will probably just brush that off as "nonsense" and go back to whatever you were doing.

So I'll leave you now with that. Carry on with your discussion, gentlemen (and ladies). smile

Point of order: Wouldn't it actually involve going out of your way to find clothing made of linen and wool?

Bat Dude finds these clothes, takes them to the clothing store manager, and tells him/her that he would like to not buy these clothes.

This is Philosophy, Not Religion... There is a reason there is a Philosophy Thread and a Religion Thread. If this was about 'What does the Bible say about..' then feel free to point us to the right passage.

This is outside the Idea of The Bible... The topic itself says nothing about the bible. The topic asks two questions which obviously divert from the 'Path' of the Bible.

Also on a personal note I find the bible itself hard to believe. Not the Religion, just the bible. Because it wasnt said that God himself took pen to paper and wrote this stuff down. Man got the word and wrote it himself. But man, however, is corrupt and had the power and oppritunity to change it however they wanted.

Also I find it humerous that many people in this religion say that Jesus was a White man with long brown hair. The man was a Middle Eastern Jew with brown skin and a turban. It is not a large leap to go from changing what he looks like to adhere to mans way of thinking, to changing some words in a book.

We have King James' era artists to thank for Jesus' caucasian portrait. And Kind James could very well have changed some stuff around. Although I doubt it, there would be less contradictions between the Old and New Testaments if he had done so.

Bat Dude
That was Old Testament ceremonial law. It has nothing to do with the modern day. Jesus fulfilled the law. We are not subject to it any longer. Yes, we don't know what sin is but by the law, but as Christians we are free from the law. It is also why we can freely eat shellfish, pork, and other things the Old Testament labeled as "unclean" (they were mostly bottom-feeder animals. You are what you eat)

MY philosophy comes from the Bible. So I don't see any problem with using the Bible to speak about my "philosophy" as it regards to this topic. See my last post as to why that is. It has the three main points of a philosophical idea. Philosophy isn't "non-religion", it's an opinion on the workings of the universe... which God made, btw (Genesis 1) wink

Ever heard of automatic writing? It's a very similar process. The only difference? Automatic writing, which has spawned Twilight, Stairway to Heaven, H.P. Blavatsky's numerous books, etc. is channeled through demonic entities rather than God.

Who said Jesus was Caucasian? Or had long hair? That whole "hippie Jesus" depiction came from the Roman Catholic Church, not the Bible. The Bible actually says it's a shame for a man to have long hair. He was an Israelite, and that's what He looked like.

Scarlet Fox
So your saying that if you read Twilight, Stairway to Heaven, etc, you are in support of Satan since it was channled through demonic entities? Are you the type who wont let his kids play Pokemon because the creatures look like devils? Or condem a gay person? If we are all made in 'Gods' image and half of us are gay dont you think 'God' may be a bit Bi-Curious?

I have nothing against other religions but when people talk about books or other things being 'Demonic' I just have to feel sorry for them. And books are not 'Spawned' they are written. There is a reason these books are under 'Fiction'.

And it doesnt matter where a book is 'Channeled' from, if it is at all. A person can still change it to be what ever he wants it to be. For all we know Jesus was a woman and because MAN didnt like that idea they made her a he. We dont know. None of us were alive at the time and all we can do is take the word of a book that was written before we were a sparkle of a sparkle of a sparkle in our ancestors eye. That is why I do not trust the 'Bible'. It could of been changed over the many hundreds of years to fit the Perfect idea of MAN!

And you answered your own question about the 'Hippie Jesus'. Romans.
