We already know that Electro and Norman Osborn will be in this movie, but we just got news of a second villain!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/28/paul-giamatti-to-play-rhino-in-the-amazing-spider-man-2?abthid=5106e8265d8a162d79000041

Also, Felicity Jones is in talks to play a character in the movie. I'm guessing Black Cat. She definitely has the face for it.

What do you all think of Electro and Rhino being in a movie together? I'm guessing they're going to be the result of Oscorp experiments by Osborn.

Also, with Goblin, Lizard, Electro, and Rhino all established they only need two more villains for a Sinister 6 movie. I'm starting to feel like they're building up to it. It wouldn't be too hard to introduce Sandman and Doc Ock in the third movie. The audiences are already familiar with them, and they would be great additions to the team.

Not sure i wanna see sinister six in the movie. too many villains is what ruined SM 3 (well among other things) Electro is good news. Also i always said that guys like Rhino and Shocker would look great on screen. But id rather see Ult robotank Rhino than a genetic experiment.

It's f*cking perfect! I liked the other one too, but they fixed EVERYTHING! They gave it black webbing design, made the spider on his chest smaller, and made the eyes HUGE! It's better than the one from the first trilogy, and that one was almost perfect, He looks like Bagleys Ultimate Spiderman with that design!

That Felicity Jones girl is hot. And she's "maybe" playin Black Cat.

Spidey is spoilt for pussy so to say in this sequel.

Harry Osborn is also confirmed.

Anyway, who do you think the 'Guy in the Shadows' was at the end of the first film? I'm betting my money on Norman. But I think he will only be revealed as the Green Goblin at the end of the sequel - so then the third film can follow on that. Kind of like what they did with Batman Begins - where Batman flips over the Joker card (awesome moment). I have a feeling he's only gonna be a mentor to Spider-man in this film...but you never know.. stick out tongue

http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2013/04/16/first-look-at-jamie-foxx-as-electro-in-the-amazing-spider-man-sequel/

There is our first look at Jamie Foxx as Electro. I guess this is kind of what they are going for. I bet they are going to light up the veins that are sticking out to give it that lightning effect. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I kind of want him to ditch the hoodie.

Amount of idiots on the internet that know nothing about what their going for with this Electro

even seen one person posting Superior Spider-man 18 cover, Just because Electro looks blue on the cover so 616 has blue skin.

the ninjak
He looks cool. I've heard it's an early form of him though.
But such rumors are almost always false.

11anegm
Any news on Rhino yet? I wonder how they'll be able to include them both in the movie? Should be interesting. I have a feeling Jamie Foxx is the perfect role for Electro, he's going to make him really come to life and make him a great character like in the comics, he's going to make him an iconic villain like the Heath Ledger's Joker in the Dark Knight. I have high hopes for this movie.

Now it's hotly rumoured that, instead of cutting Mary Jane to streamline the story, she's just been replaced by Canadian actress Sarah Gadon.

Spider-Man 3 didn't fail just because there were multiple villains Imo.

It was the way those villains were all coming out of nowhere and completely randomly, and without a properly developed, thought out origin story.

They've released a few short clips of Spidey falling and swinging around. It kind of reminds me of the clips they released as teasers to the first Spiderman movie from the previous trilogy. I'm excited for this! Also, since you guys haven't posted it yet, here's the first poster for the movie. We've got our first look at Rhino (who is mechanical like his ultimate incarnation), and our first look at the Green Goblin (who's on a glider like his 616 incarnation).

You know what? I just noticed that that billboard to the upper right of Electro gives a shot of the Goblins face. That looks good, except slightly young. I'm pretty sure the Goblin in this movie is going to end up being Harry. Facial structure wise, he looks similar.

SamZED
Is it me or does the animation seem... incomplete?

BlackZero30x
In the trailer Rhino seems to be standing straight up. I wonder if that means he goes down to all fours while running. It also seems like in the scene with the wings and ocks tentacles, the guy walking in the room is the one from the after the credits scene in AMS1. I will say at the 2:09 mark and onward it, to me, feels like Im watching a comicbook come to life.

nimbus006
I thought the trailer was pretty damn good.

DARTH POWER
^ I agree. And looks like they're making the multiple villain thing work now.

Unlike Spider-Man 3 which was a mess in handling the logistics of having 3 villains.

^for anyone who hasn't yet seen it

That trailer was great. I'm liking Foxx as Electro. He gives off the same sinister vibe his 616 counterpart does to me. His Ultimate Version always seemed like a typical thug with amazing powers and a temper problem. This one seems like a geniunly bad guy (which, to this day, we haven't had in a Spiderman villain except that terrible Venom). I'm sold on him, and Foxx has always been a good actor.

Rhinos suit is terrible, but he will probably be a throw away villain. His character is already confirmed to be a joke thug encounter with a machine gun in the beginning that gets dispatched relatively easily.

Docs arms and Vultures wings are cool easter eggs.

Dehaan seems like he's going to make a great Harry. I'm still not sold on his costume, but his acting will be great. He's probably going to end up getting killed. Norman will take the same treatent he did in rage and hopefully become the Green Goblin we deserve.

Also, I've confirmed the after credits scene, so you probably shouldn't read the following spoiler.

1:20 is the after credits scene. Six numbered blast doors opening revealing containment units inside? We've got Shocker, Rhino, Electro, Lizard, and Goblin (who will probably die) as confirmed in existence. We've also got Ocks arms and Vultures wings, who will probably finish the six after Harry is gone, leaving the real Green Goblin with his own movie. I'm betting the after credits scene will just show all six villains (or the majority of them) in containment. Spiderman 3 will give us the Norman as Goblin, where he'll kill Gwen and at some point cause a massive containment breach setting the six on the world.

We also know that Oscorp has been keeping tabs on Pete, which means they know he's Spiderman. I bet they're going to go the Ultimate route and have the entire Sinister 6 know who Pete is and target him directly. I remember that caused hell for him in Ultimate Six.

And they do have Spidey's agility down well, but the fights in the Raimi trilogy were more fun to watch IMO. No super hero movie has come close to his encounters with Goblin or Ock yet. I was hoping this movie would, but it doesn't look like it yet.

And it looks like Spidey will get some good feats this time around. We've got confirmed bullet timing and him catching that car was impressive. That trailer has pushed my hype for this movie way up.

Arachnid1
http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/12/05/the-amazing-spider-man-2-first-trailer-ign-rewind-theater

They had an easter egg pointing towards Venom. It's impossible to catch if you don't go frame by frame and enhance like these guys, but the symbiote is being stored at Oscorp. I'm betting that was Petes fathers work, and they killed him and his wife after he refused to weaponize it. That falls in line almost exactly with the Ultimate origin for Venom.

Apparently MJ is in the trailer too. Turns out she didn't get cut I guess.

JayDaDon
That was the best trailer for a comicbook movie I've seen in ages. I think they just might pull it off. I couldn't help thinking, "THIS is Spider-man" several times throughout. The battle scenes seem to have finally hit the perfect pace for a spidey film. I thought rhino looked cool. It was obvious the mechanical way was the smartest way to go with him(could do without the four legged zoid mode, but not too bothered by it) otherwise, damn this has potential to be my fave spidey movie ever.

JayDaDon
Well that's a common problem with all the spidey movies once he really starts moving like only he can. But they will most likely mix in practical effects with the cgi and continue working on the visuals. Also it will probably look a lot better in 3d.

Tzeentch

Raimi's films had a ton of greenskin nonsense too, but ASM and its sequel seem to have almost zero practical effects. Everything looks overproduced.

JayDaDon
Honestly though, if theyre gonna be as faithful as possible portraying Spidey's movements and the look of his fights, CGI is vital. There will probably be just as many practical effects in the fights too.

BlackZero30x
^agreed. They wanna keep pace with Spider-Mans abilities in the comics with out watering him down. They will need a lot of CGI. Its one of the down falls of making a superhero movie I guess. That end part of the trailer was obviously entirely CGI but it also completely embodied Spidy's movements from the books.

Tzeentch
Don't have any beef with CGI. Spiderman in this series is shaping up to be much quicker and agile than his Raimi counterpart.

The problem is that those superior stunts are coming at the cost of substance. You need practical effects mixed in with the CGI, otherwise you get Man of Steel fights; blurs of CGI fighting each other on CGI backgrounds. Fun, but not memorable. Compare Raimi's fights with ASM's. Spidey vs. Doc Ock on the train is iconic. I doubt anyone can remember specific events of Spiderman's fights with the Lizard beyond all the ****ing flips he was doing.

I know what ya mean but its hard to portray someone with super powers by using real effects. Especially when who they are trying to portray has super agility and is widely known for dodging.

As for AS1 I recall the fight with lizard in the school and at the end really well.

JayDaDon
There was a ton of cg in the ock fight too. It really all depends on how well it is balanced with the practical effects and I do think it will be well balanced here.

JayDaDon
I cannot freaking wait to see the rhino fight

DARTH POWER
TASM actually went the route of not using CGI for every Spider-Man shot, and just doing some good old fashioned stunts.

The whole scene where he's running from the cops and swinging across the bridge was all just a normal stunt. And Webb said he wanted some regular stunts in it instead of just CGI everywhere.

But I personally didn't like that and prefer full CGI for Spidey. Because the main thing is to show how agile and flexible he is, and to show him dodging all sorts, something I felt was really lacking in Ramai's movies.

Yeah, I know. You told me. Too bad I never had a PS; PC version sucked big time, children from the kindergarten wouldn't have any trouble completing it.

It was called Turbo Run. Yeah, I loved it for the same reason, you could feel like QS. Especially with the right cheat code disabling any ammo limits/overheating (whatever it was).

Harry Osborn GG (in Norman's armor). You had to complete the game on the hero/superhero difficulty first, though (pretty freaking hard). Using a cheat code instead saved a lot of unnecessary frustration.

Spiderman still has a floaty, figdety feel to him from TAS game though. I was hoping he'd feel more weighty and grounded like SM2. They also should have encorporated a stealthy crawl mode (like the Arkham games have Batman crouching to stealth). It bothers me to see Spidey go sprinting up to an enemy from behind and still get the stealth kill (though I guess Spidey does has an easier time at stealth thanks to his powers).

Everything else looks great though. The swinging looks awesome, though it should be a bit more sped up and weighty.

Hopefully the bosses deliver too. Also liking the non-linear map design. So far, so good!

SamZED
Watched a review on youtube, the guy said that first time he tried web-swinging he would bump into walls, then eventually he got a handle of it. Sounds like something that'd happen in SM2 game and that's good. Means there's no "easy swing system" for kids but a more realistic approach.

I kind of feel the same way. I thought the first one was pretty good. However, TASM 2 felt jumbled and choppy. It has much to do with the script and pacing of the movie. I have a feeling there must have been issues in the editing room. Some parts were really slow, then other parts that needed to be fleshed out more went by way too quick.

What makes it even more unfortunate is that the movies do have great casts and what I feel are really good performances. I actually prefer most of this cast over the original.

Garfield >/= Mcguire
Stone >>>>> Dunst
Sally Fields > Aunt May from first movies

Unfortunately, Fox and Dehaan are wasted. Both have ok performances, but not much depth to them. Fox has some pretty bad dialogue and his motivations for doing what he does are weak.

It just goes to show you how important good story telling is. erm

You must've missed Raimi's movies then. Webb's Spider-man cried twice iirc, first time when uncle Ben died and once when Gwen died. Nothing wrong with that. Raimi's cried when uncle Ben died, when MJ broke up with him, when he talked to Sandman. I think I've missed a few.

Nah, that's lower than Spider-Man 3!

Sometimes I really don't understand critics, because it's not that bad!

But at the same time don't expect the best superhero (or even Spider-Man) movie ever made. It's just decent.

My 2 favortie Spider-Man movies are still Ramai's Spider-Man 2 and The First Amazing Spider-Man.

One thing going against this one though, was all the trailers and tv spots showed most of the action sequences in this movie. Those kind of silly marketing tactics naturally lead to disappointment.

The scene where Harry tells Peter that Oscorp had been spying on him is not in the film. I think there was some serious work done late in the editing room.

Also the "What about Peter?" "Not everyone has a happy ending" part was omitted as well.

There seems to have indeed been a lot of post-op editing.

I am really curious whether they're going to eventually "revive" Norman and have him be the bad guy or will just go with "F#ck it, Harry is the Gobin" instead. The fact that Normie died off screen makes me think he faked his own death.

Two weeks in, it looks like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 won't simply be the lowest-grossing Spider-Man movie of all -- it will be even more critically detested than Spider-Man 3, a superhero movie about Toby Maguire saving New York by air-humping his way through a jazz dance solo.

Well rumour has it that Sony are rethinking their whole Amazing Spider-Man franchise and shared universe now after TASM2 had ended being the lowest grossing Spider-Man movie to date (and by quite a bit), and with a rumoured budget of 250mill+(a budget they still are not disclosing publicly) and with marketing costs of almost another 200mill, it's probably only made a very tiny profit. Apparently TASM3 will be delayed by a year, whilst the Sinister Six movie may Happen first(presumably to stop TASM3 being another build up to Sinister Six). But there's even rumours of a another reboot!

TASM 3 delayed until 2018!

But will get Sinister Six in 2016.

Still no dates confirmed regarding Venom.
