Warhawk, , vs Silvermane.

Who wins?

At first I thought it was warhawk the child of hawkgirl and John Stewart from batman beyond. Still reading his bio and such I think war hawk could win majority (I don't see silvermane taking a iron fist with and laughing it off as a high end feat) it's also been awhile since I really seen silvermane in action but I still think I'm right here.

The Iron Fist laugh shrug off and beat down was under Mary Jo Duffy though, who wrote one of the weakest Iron Fist's. She did the majority of Power Man and Iron Fist, and came on board just after Chris Claremont finished up introducing Danny in as Cages partner.

Under Mary Jo Duffy, Danny kind of became Kato to Cage's Green Hornet..

Which I can kind of understand. You could tell by her writing that she wasn't much for Kung Fu characters, as she kept reusing the same old themes and set pieces that were used by other writers, like having Danny use his Iron Fist to break out of a death elevator. And under Claremont, when Danny first fought Cage, he wasn't able to knock him out with an Iron Fist, and kept hurting himself using normal punches and kicks. Which is almost exactly what happened against Warhawk in his debut in Marvel Premiere. Danny kept hurting his hands and feet on him, and his Iron Fist only knocked him in the river to end the fight, but didn't knock him out.. So I can see her thinking Cage = Warhawk.

The only problem, is while Claremont did write the Iron Fist/Cage fight as if his best IF couldn't do much more then send Cage flying, he also wrote the follow up stories where Cage couldn't even dent a bunch of robot thugs with his best shots, and got KOed by the robots a bunch of times, while Danny ripped through an entire group of them with the Fist like they were tissue paper.

But for the bulk of her run, Danny was strictly in the "Can not take Cage in a direct fight" power level. That's Danny's words under her writing, btw. "We both know I can not take you in a direct fight."

Ironically, within less then a dozen issues prior, Claremont was one of three co-writers that had Danny take down Warhawk without even using an Iron Fist. I'll post the scans, but it was a huge step down from Warhawks first fight against him.
