Zealot can give her some problems but Mantis takes the majority.


Mantis is incredible but she has lost in hth to Moondragon, lost to her father Libra, briefly stalemated Dr.Strange. To stalemating Karnak IIRC and admitting he has good odds in defeating her. As her performance has been equivalent or less then many others at the heap of the one spot contention.

She has some incredible showings but her spot at the top is argumentative at best.

Her claim to fame is pressure point KO'ing Thor via sneak attack by passing his durability. But in a world were Gamora has pressure pointed Thing, while he is aware but being held or making the real Thanos bleed. Or Daredevil pressure pointing Hyde, Tiger shark, and paralyzing Hercules or Steve pressure pointing Wrecker. Her pressure point impressiveness minimizes.



So skill wise she is a far cry from Pre Cris KK even by reputation. Maybe more Post KK but is decreased by a lesser stellar record.

It does not take away her own. But it does not make her the true number one of her peers either. Cdtm likes to over exaggerate characters like Mantis, Cass, Lady Shiva. Mantis is no Pre Crisis KK.

Your missing the point, she is supposed to be a slightly above peak human like Val but her feats are weird.

Maybe her current self once she devoloped her plant like powers put her over peak. But in the beginning her strength and speed seemed human like.

Her feats are not show cased way above her peers to put her in comparison to Val. So the comparison is moot. Especially her hth record.

While A-lists seem to match Mantis feats and her record is good but not great even has losses or disadvantages. There are not many A-listers who can stop a natural earthquake with a stomp of there feet or punch something that would come up on the rictar scale.

The only one that can even mimick that type of power is Danny Rand but his is more to due with enhancement then "pure" skill like Pre Crisis KK was.
