Both of these guys were able to knock Galactus off his feet to little effect.

Both these guys were able to survive an attack from Galactus, o a Galactus class being (Omega).

These guys have fought before, yeah. The fight was interrupted.

1) Who wins in a straight fight too the death? *If they come back after being killed it don't count*

2) Who wins in a prep-fight?

1.) Odin decisively, 10/10
2.) Thanos.

Yeah...and how is Odin suppose to kill and keep Thanos permanently dead exactly?

By being significantly more powerful than him.

Seriously, though, Odin is going to beat Thanos' ass, probably even worst than the last time they fought. Sure, Thanos "can't die", but Odin could just indefinitely keep whooping that ass. Conversely, Thanos would do just about jack all against Odin.

Thanos being the Avatar of Death is like Juggs using Cyth. Odin, to actually prevent Thanos from resurrecting, requires Death to stop hating the Mad Titan. Mistress Death>>> Odin.

How exactly is Odin way above Thanos that he'd whip his ass? Thanos took shots from Tyrant (weakened though he was), who was wrestling with Galactus. He's survived attacks as powerful as Odin's taken.

Death > Odin, sure.

Thanos sure as hell isn't > Odin.

Per forum rules, a "death" counts as a win, if not an explicit incapacitation or KO, all of which is within Odin's means to do so. Per this thread, if you're asking if Odin can permanently kill Thanos or override Death itself, than the answer is an obvious no. But if you're asking who would win in a fight, the answer is undoubtedly Odin.

Via Odin's feats.

Even recently (as in around the last time we saw him on panel), Odin was shown capable of easily warping universal scale destructive energies. His high end feats blow pretty much all of Thanos' out of the water. Odin was also able to battle Galactus telepathically without any outside aid. Sure, Galactus was beyond Odin in the end, but Odin forced Galactus to use his energy to regenerate himself. His "headbutt" did way more physical damage to Galactus than Thanos did with his blasts.

As far as their fight goes, while it is a testament to Thanos' durability, the idea that Odin hadn't fought an enemy such as Thanos in eons or that Thanos' power rivals his own is pretty much hogwash when you actually look at the history of Odin's fights. Guys like SA Mangog, Surtur, Ymir, Enchanters, etc. have all given Odin much more of a fight than Thanos did....which was not at all.
