Plagueis' little technique has more potential than any might realize.
It was a possible Godlike ability, dwarfing what Vitiate or Nihilus could achieve by Force draining billions and billions of beings, or possibly trillions throughout the galaxy.
The midi-chlorians could extend life, grant immunity to Force powers like mind tricks in certain sentient beings, and without them life dies in Star Wars. Plagueis was never gifted enough to influcence his midi-chlorians to make his body invulnerable to the heat of a lighstaber blade, or resurrect his body after death or just refute his midi-chlorians from leaving his body, but Anakin channeled the energies of Mortis itself. He displayed the greatest esoteric potential of any being as his powers grew immensely, as he bested masters before he was a knight, as he tapped into this vast pool of Force energy that was within him. Perhaps if he hadn't lost so many of his midi-chlorians on Mustafar by being a little more precise and focused against Obi-wan, perhaps if he'd gained access to Plagues' studies under Sidious' tutelage, he could achieve tremendous abilities through midi-chlorian manipulation - by far the most advanced form Sith Alchemy.
Sidious went of different route, he learned from the accumulated knowledge of many Force adept sects including but not limited to;
the Sorcerers of Tund and of Queen Amanoa of Onderon, Followers of Palawa, the Chatos Academy, the Order of Dai Bendu, House Malreaux, the Nightsisters and Nightbrothers of Dathomir, the Sorcerers of Rhand, the Jarvashqinne, the Krath and Heresiarchs, and the Tyia, the entire Jedi archives, in-numerous holocrons, all Sith Lore in history.
After becoming Emperor, that is. After his first death he applied this knowledge and dominated and fed off the inhabitants of Byss after transferring his essence into a clone grown in a vat. His powers grew tremendously despite losing the Oneness with the dark side he'd achieved after killing Plagueis and corrupting Anakin, and conquering the Jedi and taking control of the galaxy. A burst of energy was realesed, but gained a hundred fold after feeding off the inhabitants of Byss. He'd mastered every technique in the Force, and invented new abilities. But his Force storms proved a more immense and powerful use of Sith Alchemy than even Naga Sadow could achieve.
Such powers could threaten an unbeknownst Vader who'd mastered midi-chlorian manipulation, in defeat Sidious could pull a Byss, but in my opinion he'd never be able to conquer a being that can just take his midi-chlorians effortlessly during combat - a being who could have immense prescient capabilities (as were his dreams of his mother).
