Shadow oblivion, since it was a meta-versal threat.

What? Scans please.

operator616
It was warping reality throughout the story, Metron confirms that it is a threat to the whole metaverse at the end of issue #4 of the story:

Same thing is stated at the end of issue 5: that it's going to destroy every dimension and era - the entire metaverse:

And it was doing so on panel, in the next issue:

When defeated (due to a plot device), its effects were felt throughout all the metaverse:

How was it defeated?

Cindy put Monikka in a 4-dimensional protective bubble, who went inside the shadow oblivion entity and destroyed it with the biostatic preserve which was altered by new genesis tech to work in reverse, (this is explained in the last scan i posted). Here's the whole scene:

That's some technobabble.

What story is this thing from?

abhilegend
Superman: The Next. I've read it a long time ago.

Endless Mike
So it was pre-reboot I take it. Canon status?

abhilegend
Totally canon. Why are you asking? Something interesting?

SquallX
I would have back up he Anti Life if this was the Anti Life from the search for the Anti Life arc.

I've just never heard of it before and I kind of figured I knew about all of the Marvel and DC top cosmics.

The Shadow Oblivion reminds me of Galactus from the Black Celestial arc. Despite its massive implied power, it has very few noteworthy on panel feats-- in fact, the feats operator posted are pretty much it.

The Anti-Life Equation, on the other hand, actually has quantifiable feats...

When it was first released, the ALE destroyed a planet, then a star, then hundreds of star systems, and finally it destroyed a 200 square light year sector of space when it imploded/was sent behind the Source Wall:

It took the Cinque of Cosmic Power destroying an entire reality/dimension just to keep it at bay:

There are also multiple comments made stating that the ALE possesses omnipotent/limitless/infinite power. I can post them if need be.

In more recent times the ALE was revealed to be half of the Source-Being's omnipotent power, in the ridiculousness of DotNG:

In short, I don't think the Shadow Oblivion being a potential metaversal threat automatically puts it above universal+ forces, just like I don't think BCA Galactus being a potential omniversal threat automatically puts him above universal+ forces. /shrug

Whats a metaverse and how big is it compared to the omniverse?

Basically, every quantum moment creates all the potential infinite universes of that moment, and the sum of all those is the metaverse.

It's not as big as the omniverse since the omniverse is the highest level of reality (hence the "omni" part), but bigger than the multiverse seemingly.

So essentially Metaverse>Megaverse? since its a sum totality of essentially infinite multiverses?

Golgo13
This is all confusing. Lol

Hope i got it right

Galan007
The prime DC multiverse contains infinite universes. On top of that, an infinite number of additional realities are created every instant, which then branch off the prime multiverse and form their own "what if..." continuum(s). Long story short: the metaverse is essentially composed of infinite infinities... Which, imo, is simply another way of describing the sum total of DC creation.

I would classify the various cosmological groupings as follows:
omniverse~metaverse >g_infinity megaverse >g_infinity multiverse >g_infinity universe.
