An example, i would wanna live in the star trek universe because thats just awesome.
marwash22
my answer is dependent on whether or not i can choose what type of person/creature i can be within said universe.

Not a superhero movie cuz that's mass carnage. Mad max might be interesting.

I'm cool with being me, but do I get to dictate my role? Like if I lived in the Star Wars universe, could I be a Jedi or whatever?

Because living in a post apocalypse desert, barren of water & food & hunted by crazed scavengers IS BETTER than mass carnage.

ST:NG universe. It's entirely socialist, I wouldn't have any bills, I could get a job pushing panel buttons on a starship and get access to the holodeck and replicators.
There's the fact that teleporting is technically dying, but I can avoid that by simply using shuttles for everything.

Until that day when the ship has to be evacuated, but the shuttles are gone for some contrived reason. Or that day when the ship's resident jokester tricks you in to the transporter room.

Actually, if I can get a replicator into the holodeck, I don't need anything except maybe some alien to mop the floor once in awhile.

As long as the matrix feels real, actual reality doesn't matter

Yea...until you realize the world you live in is flooded with all things that go bump in the night. Pure evil that nvr sleeps and for the most part go un challenged. You're "hunter colleauges" are basically fodder for the monster of the week along with everyone you hold dear. You will nvr settle down and have a family because you will undoubtedly make enemies as a hunter. The only way out of the "best job ever" is death. There are actually very few "good" guys out there to balabce all the evil. Most hunters are crazy and the angels...ha...they r more likely to kill u than the monsters. Oh and God said **** it all ditched out. Crap-tastic universe.

Supernatural would be a terrible universe to live in with demons, vampires and the persistent threat of an apocalypse. If you like the constant fear of death you wouldenjoy life as a hunter

Except for being tortured in hell, sent to purgatory, forced to battle your brother, wedged in between angels and demons. That is one of the worst universes ever to live in.

No, the worst fictional universe to live in would be The Book of Eli, or Dawn of the Dead (2004). Supernatural is tame by comparison.

Agreed dawn of the dead is pretty bad. But id take that over the 28 days/weeks universe. Runners will have u shit ur pants over walkers.

Well my life is pretty craptastic at the moment, so the major change would be having me being able to do something about it. For me, it's more appealing to have some bit of control and maybe even defeat about the crap in your life instead of just having to sit there, knowing that SOMETHING is going on, just not what or when it's going to strike, and then just getting to sit through it.
Firefly218

Fantasy allows us to live vicariously through heroes with powers and goals and friends to support them. They allow us to explore new beautiful ideas without being subjected to real-world limitations, and they reflect the simpler mores of fightting physical and defeatable evil versus the daily "hell is other people" that we live in real life.
I'd rather be fighting through legions of undead, orcs, or robots instead of dealing with some stuff. Like tax season. Or "food or gas this week" budget crisis.
@Wallman : DotD remake (2004) has runners and the epidemic is global. Plus they don't starve or die to a few bullets like in 28 Days Later. I admit though that the latter is still the only zed movie that genuinely frightens me, just because of how well it's filmed.
Also, Book of Eli has little civilization, electrical things are mostly gone, and you don't even have tons of ammo to offset it. Even Fallout gives you a considerable arsenal.
siriuswriter
Exactly.
dadudemon
I could have sworn I answered this thread/question already.
Harry Potter Universe
The Harry Potter universe if I could be a magical human. If I had to be a muggle, **** that shit.
History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
The History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi universe because all it takes is super duper duper hard work and you can become waaaaay strong and waaaay fast and waaaaay skilled even if you have no talent for martial arts at all. Also, all the women are generally absurdly hot with giant boobs that don't sag even when they are in they 70s or 80s .
Gattaca Universe
If not that universe then the Gattaca universe where humans have fully and completely mastered the human genome and we can actually customize humans , through their DNA, just like we were selecting attributes in the sims. The implications of this technology are literally and directly biological immortality if a doctor wanted to pull that off: and with superhuman traits (bone density, intelligence, speed, etc). Ignore the obvious plot device they use in the film to allow a movie to happen. The writers were not aware that if we as humans had the ability to customize human DNA from the ground up, there would be no plot to the movie because anyone could change their DNA, even after being born, with gene therapy (had the writers acknowledged that, the film would literally have 0 plot because the plot fully relies on the idea that humans could somehow not be changed after being born..**** gene therapy, right?).
Star Wars Universe
The Star Wars universe is obvious because of the extremely futuristic technologies and the force. However, if I were not a force user, **** that. I'd skip it. But if I could be a force user in the Star Wars universe, I'd ALWAYS force push girl's skirts up because I'm a pervert. I would also just love to saber duel (with practice sabers that just sting, not actually kill) for fun, all the time.
Dragonball Z Universe
Another one would be the Dragonball Z universe because, like History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, you can become stupid powerful with just lots of training in the martial arts. Unlike HSDK, you can become so strong you can easily destroy planets and move at relativistic speeds. You can also collect all the dragonballs and wish for immortality and other things that are hilariously awesome. There is also the futuristic technology from that universe such as FTL travel, gravity generators (up to 400x earth's gravity, for example), reincarnation, an afterlife, real gods, and vacuum-space technology (capsules) that can story very large items in something the size of a pill.
Stealth Moose
Non-Force users can destroy planets in the SW-verse. Don't cut them short. Meanwhile, muggles can threaten wizards with stuff like aircraft, nukes, and machine guns.
Dr Will Hatch
^ I would have loved it had Deathly Hallows ended with Harry's Uncle Vernon shooting Voldemort in the head thereby proving that science>magic like that one episode of Buffy where she kills a demon with a rocket launcher.
Dr Will Hatch
Anyways, Star Trek(the original series) seems to be the best answer, at least movie wise. If I could pick ANY universe to live in, it would either be Marvel/DC, or the Cultureverse by Iain M Banks.
