if the rebel alliance didn't have luke the rebels would have lost as the rebellion nearly lost all of there battles with the empire since 2 BBY - 1 ABY there one MAJOR victory was on kamino they captured vader but he got freed by Boba fett since the Boba was following the rogue shadow.
