Who are D.C.s Illuminati?

Okay, pretend the incursion storyline occurred in DCU. They observe Marvel's Illuminati as the champion team the Great Society was and know they must contend with them as well as try to solve the incursion. In a retroactive sense, who would the members be? Pick seven, give you reasons. The reasons for coming together are the same, to resolve planetary and cosmic level events in secret. Remember, the seven have to agree to come together in secret. The two characters that scream Illuminati to me are Batman and Mr. Terrific and one that would not work is Superman. Name the members.

DarkSaint85
Superman
WW
Batman

These three already meet in secret pre-boot; they had the league within a league.

So they would DEFINITELY, pre-boot, be part of any Illuminati.

As for the rest, they'd need a mage (Jason Blood); a scientist (Ray Palmer); possibly Lex if it's one of those get together for the greater good, plus MM.

It has to be a team of 7 people, who are willing to really do what has to be done to take care of a crisis. Superman and Batman are out because of that immediately.

1. Doctor Fate: a magician, who gets the bigger picture.
2. Wonder Woman: a power house, who is willing to kill for the greater good.
3. Martian Manhunter: has seen and experienced slavery and killing.
4. Mr. Terrific: to add some diversity, trollolololo.
5. Aquaman: = Namor, but less cool.
6. Red Hood: argueably the most knowledgeable one on Batman for overall convenience.
7. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan): Walking space lexicon, probably slightly less morals than the other three Lanterns and most likely still the voice of reason within the team.

Why not Batman, who will most likely be the pick of most of the people here?

What would Batman do during a crisis? Send the villains to Arkham and take a nap afterwards? He isn't willing to kill and even his ways of taking out someone are rather underwhelming, because if we remember correctly... Tower of Babel was only so successful, because Ra's tweaked Batman's gadgets to a point, where they were even more deadly and effecient.

LMAO about Batman. Hadn't thought of that. He might get the Captain America treatment. laughing out loud

Not unless they ALL were not in it.

Good List

Mine would be.
1. WonderWoman, representing the realm of Gods
2. Aquaman, representing the biggest part of earth
3. Constantine, representing the realms of Magic
4. Lex Luthor, representing the science part of humanity (redeemed himself in FE)
5. Metron, representing the realm of the New Gods
6. Martian Manhunter, representing all extraterrestrial forces (psi)
7. Hal Jordan, representing the Guardians

Good list, but can't see Superman not been there just because of who he is.

Supermutant
GL John Stewart has already destroyed two planets and will make tough decisions for the greater good.

Amanda Waller has already done unethical things like send villains to a prison planet. She does things " by any means necessary."

Aquaman

Pandora already helped to merge three worlds into one and knows how to be discreet, plus has vast mystical knowledge.

Martian Manhunter

Cyborg can manipulate most tech and has access to mother boxes and Apokolips tech.

Black Adam is a Namor type personality wise. He has protected the Earth when it fits his needs.

Excellent list, however, Metron doesn't fit he's a little too high up the scale and he doesn't have the same ties to earth as the others. I was waiting for Constantine.

Actually, now that I think about it.....

DCnU:
Martian Manhunter
Apollo
Midnighter
Engineer
Jack Hawksmoor
Jenny Quantum
The Projectionist
Adam One.

Preboot:
Apollo
Midnighter
Swift
Jack Hawksmoor
Jenny Quantum/Sparks
The Doctor
The Engineer.

I shall call this version of the Illuminati, the Authority. Or Stormwatch. To deal with planetary/cosmic threats in secret. Made up of members who are willing to do what it takes to safeguard their Earth.

I'll give them a mobile fortress to work from, too.

Khazra Reborn
Constantine and Luthor would definitely be there, the rest are kind of debateable.

TedKordJRBOSS
1. Constantine
2. Wonder woman
3. Ray palmer
4. Amanda Waller
5. Phantom Stranger
6. GL stewart
7. Martian manhunter

Not just to deal with them, to deal with them covertly.

That's what Stormwatch was developed for.

Galan007
basically the morrison-era JLA.

No, Stormwatch is their own team, not members of other teams and they exist in secret.

In secret, but the team itself is not made up of other members of teams who decided to cometogether in secret. Most responders in the thread have already gotten that.

Stormwatch IS secret though......and was brought together in secret to deal with cosmic/planetary threats, covertly, before the JLA or others got wind of them.....

But your 'winning' team:

Neither was Namor, Black Bolt or Black Panther, but they are former members who maintain ties with the mainstream teams. Are you familar with the origin of Illuminati or not? You are acting as if you don't have a clue.

DarkSaint85
Are you familiar with the concept of Stormwatch in the DCnU?

Nevermind, I don't play dodgeball.

DarkSaint85
Haha good edit.

So John Stewart maintains good links with his team mates now? Wait, in DCnU, he's never been part of a team, just another GL.

Pandora maintains good links with her former teammates as well?

Amanda Waller?

Black Adam?

You've just got 4 random loners shoved into a team. And you applauded this as the winning team. I'm just confused what your criteria is. You also had Mr Terrific in your OP as your own choice....and he's a loner as well.

A group of 7 members, gathered together to defeat the world's problems, in secret, who are also from other teams? Because your last criterion was not made clear in the OP.

Dude, it's not that hard, IF you know the purpose of the Illuminati, which I don't know because you won't answer. BA belongs because A) he's a king and B) he is willing to "go there" if need be. There's a C, he's a cheap knock off of Namor, but that's beside the point. Like I said, most people in the thread got he concept because they know the Illuminati and what brought them together.

DarkSaint85
All of the Authority are willing to go there if needs be. And have done, multiple times.

LordofBrooklyn
1. Constantine- Makes any threat manageable with his presence.

2. Mr. Terrific- Strategy and intelligence.

3. Martian Manhunter- Powerhouse with incredible versatility.

4.Green Lantern Hal- Cosmic power included.

5.Cyborg- Tech savvy

6. Majestic- Seek and destroy.

7.Midnighter

Nice team, my only question is Majestic. Isn't he from another universe? If he is, he couldn't be on the team. Hell, they might end up having to destroy his world next!
