Well?

riv6672
Catch how?
Having the shield thrown AT him or catching the shield after throwing it?

8swords
toad comes to my mind

riv6672
Punisher came to mine. He caught Cap's shield on his rifle barrel, spyn the momentum put of it then dropped it to the ground.

Hawkeye was able to catch it after throwing it.

Not sure which scenario we're talking here though.

God Cloth Seiya
Cap throwing it as hard as he can.

No one below Spider-Man. Everyone else gets sliced in half, if Captain America is serious about the shield throw:

And the only reason Spider-Man would be able to catch it are his super powers: spider-sense, super speed and super strength.

Depends on who is throwing it. The Hulk should be the new Captain America big grin

If Captain America is throwing it, Winter Soldier would likely be the weakest, but that would be because of his prosthetic arm. So I would say the Vision due to durability.

Prof. T.C McAbe
I think a very skilled street level char can do it, redirecting the force of the throw in a circular move.

I think that the OP means to just catch it, as in no sell a full powered throw from Captain America. No street level character is going to do this.

I've seen Taskmaster catch it.
I guess Tasky would be the weakest since he is only suppose to have peak human strength.

When did Captain America ever come across as a murderer? If he threw his shield with the same amount of strength that he did when he wrecked that tank, I highly doubt that a street level would have an arm left after trying to catch it.

I doubt Cap was holding back against Deadpool and Red Skull. Beast has superhuman strength, coordination, balance, and agility so he should be able to do that. Taskmaster has studied Cap moves and has traded blows with him. His skill set would allow him to catch that.

And street leveler characters do things all the time that they shouldn't going strictly by power-set. Routinely out-reacting bullets fired from automatic weapons at close range for example. Just because you don't want to accept it doesn't mean it didn't happen on panel.

Captain America's killed like a hundred guys, you know that right?

Galan007
certainly we aren't implying that cap throws his shield with tank-busting force every single time he hurls it at an enemy, right? that's ridiculous, imo.

deadpool, for example, is not going to just...palm a shield-throw that could have decimated a tank. how strong/durable do you people think he is for god's sake? confused

Some of these crazy guys might even think it's dumb for Cap's shield to decimate a tank, fancy that.

But yeah, obviously that hand's supposed to be flying.

But yeah, obviously that hand's supposed to be flying. i'm just saying that if we are calling the tank-buster his 'most powerful throw'(which is what the stips of this thread are), then obviously the scene in which deadpool palmed a throw wouldn't qualify.

krisblaze
My nomination is Reed Richards.

Yeah it should kill most of the 'redirect force in a circular motion' theories also.

In my opinion Deadpool beats Captain America straight up, if he is serious about the fight. He has done it twice at least.

Deadpool is super underrated, because he tends to fool around a lot and he usually undersells him, because his fights don't showcase his actual physical attributes. He has actual super strength, which was stated and showcased, when he was jumping onto building floors, stopping helicopters from flying away and ragdolling people around.

Deadpool might be able to stop Captain America's shield, even if Cap fully commits to the throw.

riv6672
Yeah, that catch isnt happening. Pool's arm would rip off.

LOL at the Beast scan though.

When it comes to Deadpool it depends on how he catches it. If he places his hand in front of the approaching shield in order to stop it in its track, then it would cut through him like butter without a doubt.
But if he manages to "clap" (don't know the proper verb for it) it from both sides together he might have the strength to stop its momentum immediately before it travels any further.

Deadpool has some serious strength feats. Rag-dolling adults around might be something that even peakhumans in comics do casually, but I hardly doubt that they can replicate some of Deadpool's other strength feats:

- Here Deadpool leaps onto a building, while some people are discussing how Deadpool used two fingers two hold someone in the air and snap their neck. Deadpool himself mentions people like Spider-Man and himself being able to make that jump:

http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/2/28708/685505-deadpoolstrength3.jpg

- Deadpool also used Spider-Man's webbing to stop the momentum of a helicopter and redirect it to a giant, mutated rat to blow it up:
http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/10/108566/4035307-1.jpg
http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/10/108566/4035308-2.jpg

The last feat caused him obvious trouble, but he was still holding against the weight judging by his stance, which is quite insane.

riv6672
Nice.
That gives the concept of Pool doing it more viability for sure.

Exactly. He is only suppose to be around 1 ton in strength. But that means nothing, because there are street levelers who are only suppose to be peak human that can apparently kick clean through a motorcycle. big grin

I always assumed that Cap doing that to a tank has something to do with the shield itself, not just strength. Or are we implying that Cap is 5x stronger than Deadpool? Because that's how strong he'd have to be in order to ripp DP's arm off with a throw.

riv6672
Why 5x?

SamZED
Just a random number. Point is Cap is nowhere near strong enough to throw the shield and ripp DP's arm off when he tries to catch it. Not with sheer force of the throw that is.

riv6672
Then its just an opinion on your part. Thought you had some math formula or something!
Mine is, a throw that can sheer off part of a tank, could rip off an arm.

Mine is, a throw that can sheer off part of a tank, could rip off an arm. Lol I don't do match, try asking h1. The part about number was not a serious statement, the part about strength was. Cap is not much stronger (if at all) than Deadpool. He shouldn't be able to ripp DP's arm off with a throw. I think it has something to do with the properties of the shield.

I'll say Pool can catch Cap's shield. IF Cap's not trying to cut him in half with it.

Yeah, it's possible.

riv6672
I wouldnt want Cap hitting me with anything with intent to kill.

But yeah, the shield was obviously a factor in the tank scene.
The shield is what Pool's trying to catch though. Same level throw as that scene, Pool's not catching it. OR clapping.

Now that you say it, I remember Deadpool grabbing a guy or two by the hair and scaling a wall at superspeed. Rip off from BP I know, but it still happened. Can't beleive a normal guy doing that. It waas in one of his respect threads

HulkIsHulk
Maybe the tank cutting is the virbanium plot devicery. Like Wolverine cutting up things he shouldn't, like full power Infinity Gauntlet Thanos

krisblaze
I think Hulk is right.

Cap's shield doesn't make a lick of sense. It's supposed to absorb kinetic energy and other stuff, but it can still bounce and cut through things.

Tank-shearing, as dumb as it is, is probably more a case of sharpness. The shield's cutting through it. Whether or not deadpool's strong enough to stop it shouldn't matter, because the shield's going to dice through him anyways.

We need someone with durability, like Colossus.

It waas in one of his respect threads Deadpool is a low level superhuman, not a normal guy. He has plenty of feats from breaking a guy's neck with only to fingers to ripping guy's hand off effortlessly with only two fingers. Then there's the recent feat where he used Spidey's web-shooters to change a helicopters momentum and crash it into a building. He was hurt but still pulled it off.
