In this scenario the Midnighter is infiltrating the Mandarin's stronghold. Midnighter enters the castle, and sees that the Mandarin has removed his rings, which gives him the perfect opportunity to strike. Just as Midnighter crashes through the window, the Mandarin sees him, and braces for the attack. He does not have enough time to put the rings on, as Midnighter charges, and carries him through a wall, while simultaneously tossing a concussion grenade that brings the ceiling down burying the rings. They topple over a banister in the main hall of the castle. The fight begins.

Who wins?

Depends. It's not really clear how long it takes The Mandarin to amp his body to superhuman levels with Chi. It's possible that Midnighter might kill him outright with this surprise charge. The fight might well end before it starts.

If the Mandarin does manage to amp his body, then he rips Midnighter limb from limb with Midnighter not even being able to hurt him.

Without the rings. Midnighter should win, he is better at h2h and can read his opponent, it would be quick.

Standard equip, and he uses it a lot in battle.
