Probably Uatu.

SS and Thor are the top dogs in the Herald class at Marvel but I don't think they'd be able to put down Uatu for the majority.

He is because he refused to defend himself against what killed him. His death also goes against canon. Watchers are supposed to be able to regenerate from nearly any wound that does not reduce them to ashes (poor writing). All out, Uatu is more powerful and if he were out to win, he should defeat both of them pretty easily.

Yea i think marvel needed to get rid of Nick fury sr in a grandiose way that wouldn't infuriate fans while propelling his son into the spotlight in order to capitalize on the new avengers sequel

It's worst than that. Watchers can't die unless they lose the will to live. See the Quasar story arc "Journey into Mystery".

Maybe they want to make the baby Watcher that came from Uatu's death an Earthbound hero? That could be a possibility. Rogue Watcher that goes against ancient principals? Well it seems like a cool idea if they decide to run with it.
