Why not just move to another galaxy?

Sometimes I wonder why the Rebel Alliance, just didn't up and leave the main galaxy where the Emperor was and just find another galaxy that wasn't being run by a maniacal Sith Lord.

Okay, let's pretend for a second we live in a universe where people can just back up and leave whenever they want. They also want to leave the homes they've lived in for generations.

How are they going to get to another galaxy? The distance between galaxies are fast and the only reason hypertravel works is because they know the lanes before hand. In the end, they'd mostly like just end up getting killed or lost in the middle of Dark Space. Both sound like pretty bad ends.

That, and the Empire isn't going to permit intergalactic travel with no response or investigation from them, either.

Q99
The *first* extragalactic expedition, the Outbound Flight project, was just decades before, and had poor results, in that no-one knew what happened to them.

And they're expected to do so with billions and billions of people, planetary populations, and leave everyone else under an iron fist?

The Vong moved to another galaxy. They had worldships, and most of those were dying by the time they arrived.

Note that not knowing what's in each galaxy, the devastated Vong galaxy is the most likely one to run into, since it's closest.

They simply don't want to, because if they wanted to avoid the Empire, they could go to the Unknown Regions or just hide in rim worlds, but they don't just want to avoid the Empire, they want it taken down.

LAWL.

In new canon, the Vong don't exist. Idk if the hyperspace disturbance at the edge of the galaxy still holds water, but who knows.

Q99
Galactic exodus is rarely easy regardless of canon.
