ghostman
like say he is fighting a kryptonian or another solar based foe, can he force drain his energy?

EcstaticGrace
Don't think so. Heat vision also seems to harm him when another Kryptonian attacks him with it for some reason, but then again Apollo amped him with a solar blast so there might be some rules in play.

If your asking can he absorb energy from someone not discharging it then I'd say no.

Sin I AM
Whats his hv? Heat and kinetic force?

It's also releasing the solar energy from his body. Solar flare has been suggested to just be a bigger form of heat vision I believe.

It is Heat and Force though as well.

Stoic
If he could, wouldn't he have been able to go back to full power after his solar flare maneuver, which left him in a weakened state? I'd have to say no he can not.

It's possible the energy Kryptonians release

A) Can't be absorbed
B) Can't be absorbed by Kryptonians

Reason why he can shave with heat vision and it doesn't regenerate what he's shaving. Same when other Kryptonians are being shown to be hurt by heat vision.

Solar Flare I see it as him releasing a huge amount of Solar Energy that leaves him in an almost powerless state.

The idea of him just touching Apollo and absorbing his solar energy sounds a bit of a stretch to me. But being hit with rays or beams/blast that are that of a yellow sun I'd assume should help him rather then harm or have no affect on him.

Yeah he's a sponge, but unable to willfully drain energy like Parasite can. Which goes back to what I was saying. If he could, he would have been back to full power as quickly as it would take him to run outside. Right?

Yes, of course.

riv6672
No. He cant.

Insane Titan
Nope, not a chance in hell.

Genii96
He can't

Good points

Additionally, in Superman Unchained, there was a discussion between Batman and Superman on the difference between the solar energy consumption of Wraith versus that of Superman. Wraith's was greater than Superman's, and apparently even going through clouds reduced the clouds to 'solar wastelands.'

HulkIsHulk
How is sundip comparable to absorbing it right out of someone else's body? Of course he can absorb it out of containment or if it is free.

That's bio converted solar energy BTW.

Couldnt you just have quoted Genis once, and called us the dynamic duo?

Anyhow, looks like you have a valid point in saying yes. Byrne seems to have set a precedent. Apologies.

Of course, as with most obscure powers in general, and anything to do with Superman in particular, its not the power itself, but how it gets misinterpreted here on the board that makes for fan/fanboy friction.

That's cool seems like a highly ignored ability if not a one time ability, any other instances of force absorbing energy from characters

ghostman
so superman can essentially drain a persons life or "bio" energy? would this work on plants?

abhilegend
Yes, he did that already in DKR. He can even absorb electricity to power himself.

in canon?

riv6672
^^^Of course not (DKR).
abhi is one of the first try cry foul on non canon examples, but also the first to throw them into a debate.

Surtur
There seem to be some feats that show he can forcibly drain the energy. Having said that, I'm still not sure why anyone would include sun dipping feats or feats from the JLA/Avengers comic. Or just Supes getting powered up by something blasting him.

Forcibly draining something would necessitate a conscious decision to do so.

100% canon like DKR

^^^There's no proof thats Superman.

"Ahem, in abhis defense he never said it was canon"

So the "he did that already" was supposed to NOT make ghostman infer canonity?
Haha laughing

I already know you consider me a troll, you've told me so, so, i have no problem telling you, that, you, and abhi are all full of fanboy crap.

The word is canoninity. If you're going to use big words make sure they're used correctly. My client (the aformentioned Abhilegend) merely stated fact.

"In the graphic novel, the blast from the nuclear missile blocked out the light of the sun.

Since superman draws his Kryptonian strength from the light of the sun, its absence apparently prevented him from resisting the damage of the blast fully, or healing afterwards, or possibly both.

However, he is somehow able to draw the stored energy from the sun out of the plant life nearby, which also draws upon solar energy for food (a very thin connection, I know)."

Exhibit A:

Now my client if being falsely accused of leading another forum member to believe something is canon. When all he did was state the obvious. At this level of comic book nerdom it should be commen sense that TDKR is not canon. Abhi just assumed the forum member was as educated in Superman lore as he. Id like all charges against him be dropped and any reference to me calling you a troll, dick jockey or ass clown formally dismissed.
