I love this casting...

Brie Larson is the frontrunner...

Looking forward to the upcoming MCU films where they branch out to other characters that aren't featured as heavily as the titular Avengers roster. Films like this and Dr. Strange are much more interesting for me to see than the umpteenth Avengers related flick or Iron man film, though this film is further on the horizon it should be great.

At this point, Marvel has a great record of picking their lead stars.

She night need to workout a bit to tone up and a hairdo for sure. But she fits that mold Marvel is looking fo.

1. Great actress
2. Still unknown to general audiences
3. Looking to a big pay day and chance to up their resume with a few blockbuster titles
4. More than likely met or exceed their expectations during casting

They're trying to go younger than katee sackoff, who'll be over 40 by the time the first movie is done. I'm on board with what you're saying, but I'd bet Larson is more than capable of acting the character however it needs to be.

Oh i agree/see what you're saying. Larson will do fine if she takes the role. Msrvel has (yet) to disappoint me (fingers crossed on Dr. Strange).

Could definitely see Yvonne as Carol though I think Kate Beckinsale would also work.

While not my first choice, I can understand why Marvel would want Brie. I just would have preferred to see an actress over 30 cast in the role.

Katee Sackhoff is a decent actress, but she won't do well in a scene with RDJ and Chris Evans. She would be out of her league. Marvel needs a great actress to hang with those heavyweights. Marvel never goes for the obvious(fancasting) choices. The only exception was Cumberbatch. People had similar reservations about The Human Torch playing Captain America. Now? Well, people couldn't imagine anyone else playing the character.

I'm more concerned how heavy Marvel is going to be on the pandering. Hopefully it won't be as transparent as their A-Force series.

Marvel has shown that they can tweek the origins of their heroes while keeping the core of their story intact. So I trust them to doe the same here.

However if they plan to base her origin on her latest book then the audience better brace themselves for lots...and lots of pandering.

With her original origin she was more of a Lois Lane type character where she meets the alien Captain Marvel.

The Skrulls are like the Watchers. Feige said they and Fox have kind of like "joint custody" over certain Marvel races. So, Disney are free to use them in the MCU films. But they can't, for example, specifically use Kl'rt, because he is mainly an FF villain, and falls under what Fox owns.

Maybe Feige has gotten the rights back for the FF back from Fox, and by mutual arrangement the two studios are being quiet about it for now. Fox did gain TV rights for X-Men in the past year; they must have had to give something back.

All I hope re: the Kree is that they're better than they are in Agents of Shield. I mean, I like the show, but I feel like the movies can do a better job.

I'm sure the costume on Larsen will look better in post, though the design itself is okay I guess.

If the MCUinterpretation of Carol is anything like her more recent comic counterpart then I don't have high hopes for this.

That was the argument critics had with Marvel Studios making a movie about the Guardians Of The Galaxy, before the movie came out. There weren't part of a long running, bestselling comic series, the characters were considered B to C list, and how could anyone take that walking raccoon seriously on the big screen? Those were some of the complaints.

I complained about why they were proceeding with an Ant-Man movie. Never much cared about the character, and Hank Pym's appeal was way below Tony Stark and other scientist characters, to me.
