In this case we do it by putting an incredibly overpowered version of a modern Marty Sue against a lower powered version of a classic villain.

Is current Goblin more powerful?

I think any version of BP other than Hell's Kitchen Panther would beat Green Goblin although some fights would be really close depending on his gear.

Goblin generally has Spidey beat in most categories...

Current BP is difficult to place, but other version I'd take the Goblin.

depends a lot on the type of equipment bp has. in a random encounter, where gg has the glider and his typical gear i'd take gg too.

He's a real underachiever, but in certain stories, like a death in the family and the whole light/darkness arc, he's clearly Spidey's superior until Peter uses nigh-lethal force.

Other than HF, glider and ranged options, Normie is weak as f*ck.

I don't know. The only thing I really see giving Panther problems here is the glider. But I think he can overcome that.

Class 9 even, according to some sources... marginally weaker than (classic) Spidey.

And with all that power, he still sucks as a hth combatant.

Yeah, but hes still a competent fighter.

Not as good as BP admittedly, but hes capable with his own bombing/strafing style.
