Made the mistake of trying to follow the plot.

I have a feeling you're not meant to understand wtf is going on, and just enjoy the set pieces.

Lord Lucien
The plot's easy: it's nonsense. Good sword fight though.

Ridley_Prime
Still kinda sad that this was the last Bond entry with Pierce Brasnan, as he ended on a low note with this, whereas he started out notably stronger in like Goldeneye.

Lord Lucien
To be fair, the second half of his Bond films were kinda... not great.

Surtur
Plus I think Goldeneye was only good because of the game.

What I remember about this movie is..the shitty Madonna song.

Lord Lucien
Sorry. I'm just a little Hung Up. Maybe we should get Together and Jump.

Goldeneye was always my favourite of his four. That end fight between Bond and Trevelyan was the best final fight scene in any Bond film, IMO. Short, brutal, no music, to the point, and real feeling.

Yes. The same director of that made Casino Royale. Plus The Legend Of Zorro, and...Green Lantern. stick out tongue

Patient_Leech
Die Another Day was the Bond film that turned me against Bond films.

Then Casino Royale came out and I rather enjoyed that.

Now after Spectre I'm back to not really caring. So I'm done.

Surtur
Once again the video game did the end fight better. I chased him around and shot him like 30 times.

Brosnan >>>>>>>>>> Craig

Craig is the worst Bond of all the different bonds by far

And why is that?

Lord Lucien
Because he's blond! GRR!!

But he is bland. And boring. And dull. He's probably the most uninteresting and least entertaining Bond. The stories and scripts and cinematography and special effects, those can all be fine. But Craig as Bond is just a big bore.

Pretty much

Craig feels like any generic spy action star. With no personality, no charm, Just an all business serious demeanor.
That isn't Bond. Film Bond has had more than 30 years to build up his personality, and way he should be portrayed regardless of actor.
Now all the Craig Bond films feel like generic spy starting movies with generic agent.
Even "gadgets" are sparsely used anymore. When that was one of the staples and fun parts of the Bond movies.
Don't bring book convo into this because that version has never been used and the movie version has had decades of movies to build upon its own version of the character.

Ridley_Prime
@ Surter: How do you really compare a drawn out boss fight from a video game to a more realistic done version of that part from the movie? And you realize the movie was out at least two years before the N64 game, right? Admittedly though, the movie did become more famous/well-known to a point because of the game.

And thank you @ thread for summing up my problems with Craig as Bond. Still enjoyed some of his movies in spite of that though but his Bond itself... No.

Roger Moore FTW!!

Kazenji
Meh.....Roger Moore had alot of corny/Cheesy moments with the bond movies that he was in

as for the Goldeneye game talk, I never really played it myself didn't get caught up with the hype with it at the time.

steverules_2
I played it, pretty decent game

Wasn't there gonna be a spin off of Jinx from this film? Think it was talked about but nothing came of it

Kazenji
Yeah, I remember all the talk about a Jinx spin-off

from what i'm seeing on the movie's wiki page, It was MGM that pulled the plug on it & Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson of Eon Entertainment were all for it.

Ridley_Prime
Jinx... Halle Berry's character? I'm glad nothing came of that then, because she was one of the things about Die Another Day that left a bad lasting impression on me for the end of the Brosnan Bond era. Hell, even the lead villain of that movie wasn't likable.
