Why is the PT era so weak?

Darth Tyranus can't kill some pirates without his lightsaber, the Chosen One stalemates a drunken pirate and has difficulty in CQC with a sissy senator, Yoda almost has a hernia when lifting a pipe in AotC, Maul gets his ass kicked by a dog, Obi-Wan gets pummeled in CQC by like two nameless Mandos, Grievous gets humiliated by Gungans, the Chosen One again has difficulty blowing open a door with TK in LoE, etc. So why does the PT era suck? Are they just naturally weak, or are their feeble abilities simply a product of the circumstances of their time period?

Nephthys
They just suck. A thousand years of peace has bred weakness and a lack of true ability.

Because TCW and Canon, though Anakin beat Hondo without really doing anything if you watch the fight.

You mean Canon. Particularly on screen stuff. In which case because they tend to tone down their displays to align more with the movies.

Legends on the other hand, is no less flashy in the PT era than anywhere else.

that ***** in tor is like destroying skyscrapers or something as a teenager

Well this too, which is why I don't endorse trying to mix Canon and Legends together.

DarthDuelist9
Onscreen always tries to align more with the movies but it still shows some interesting stuff like for example two Inquisitors holding back the engines of the Phantom.

Selenial
Because not making Force Users gods is far more interesting than the literal shit like the current TOR storyline.

Arcann and Vaylin being powerful makes them worse ****ing characters, I don't understand what the problem of so many EU writers is with making good characters.

|King Joker|
Yeah the TOR shit is trash lol

Ziggystardust
Shitty story and shitty gameplay, but kotor was good back in the day compared to all of the other shit that was released in 2005.

The Ellimist
Jokes aside, that's Canon, where the PT/OT eras are essentially the only that exist. So comparing it to Legends is silly. I expected better from you Joker. erm

You do realize that this would mean that Bane sucks too, right?

Neph has dismissed those claims.

Uh, how exactly? If they weren't powerful it would be kind of stupid and there'd be no tension in the story. They're supposed to be threats that can suppress the entire galaxy, with the Outlander being the only one capable enough to stop them. If they sucked it'd just be like, why didn't the Jedi/Dark Council **** them up immediately? Why should we give a shit about stopping a pair of feebs?

ChaosTheory123
A character's quality depending on how powerful or weak they are is subjective

For me?

Depends on the setting and story

Powerful characters can be good and weak characters can be shit

Vice versa holds true too

Whether Arcann/Vaylin are good characters isn't dependent on their power, but if they possess or lack any other sort of defining traits. If they're just a bunch of stats, then obviously they're lacking in character *shrugs*

That said, know **** all about them

And anyone with super powers in Star Wars generally gets poorly written for the sake of plot in combat regardless of era anyway

relentless1
lol if the PT era characters have displayed more abilities and strength than any other trilogy era by far

quanchi112
The Pt era would stomp a mud hole in the Ot era which is the weakest era to date in canon. And in the films this fanboy wet dream that only that best feats matter and any notion that anything less than is pathetic only exists in their warped minds.

I don't agree tbh. While your average pt era Jedi Knight is probably slighty weaker due to 1000 years of peace and lack of serious threats in that period we have some of the strongest force users the galaxy has ever known. Jedi such as Saeese Tiin, Agen Kolar and Sora Bulq are already considered some of the finest Jedi the order has ever produced, however their skill pales in comparison to that of Obi Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku, Canon Quinlan Vos ( but his EU self is no slouch), Ahsoka, Maul and Windu. These guys are absolute beasts, but PT era has even produced force users Who could stomp these dudes as well, such as Sidious and Yoda ( and Plagueis if we consider him part of this era). We have also a bunch of other sith/jedi who are fodder to these guys but are still very strong, such as A'Sharad Hett,Ventress,Savage, An'ya Kuro, Nikkos Tyris, Talzin, Neeja, Drallig and many others. So yes, maybe your average jedi sucks, but this era also produced a lot of elite force users
