I just upgraded to UHD. My 4k Blu-ray player is on the way.

(I didn't go 3D because I'm sort of annoyed with it. Until they develop a method that doesn't require glasses it's just more trouble than it's worth to me.)

So fellow high-res elitists like me post your recent purchases or viewings in UHD. smokin'

I've already made a few purchases...

And I've watched Sicario and Oblivion in UHD and they both look fantastic.

Patient_Leech
These two are great in 4k UHD, bitches...

I have a SUHD Samsung 4k. Is the UHD DVD player worth it?

Yeah, if you're a resolution fiend like me. I mean, I guess it depends on the movie, but I think it's worth it, particularly for wide establishing shots.

I think some 1080p files and blu-rays look better on the UHD screen, too.

Sable
What brand of player did you get?

Patient_Leech
Samsung. I pretty much try to stick with Samsung when possible.

Sable
Same

Patient_Leech
I picked up both of these the other day because someone had already traded them in and they were much cheaper than usual. I think the store didn't realize they were 4k and a little more valuable. They were each about 10 or 11 bucks. Sweet deal.

For whatever reason this 4k disc just doesn't work in my player. I don't understand it. It's very strange. The only disc I've ever had do that, DVD, bluray, 4k or whatever.

Robtard
Check the region on the DVD. Maybe they sent you an Asian market disc (eg Region 3) and your player only plays US/Canada (ie Region 1).

I wish that were the case. I tried two different copies (I sent the first one back thinking it was just defective). I also tried the disc in my brother's player and it acted a little funny, too, with the menu, but did play the movie.

I just got a 4k HDR 10 Laser Projector ALPD 3.0, waiting for the screen.

Scottie
4K all the way!!!!

is what a cheerleader squad would say...

watched Toy Story 4k last night and the fairground at night scene was awesome

Patient_Leech
Pacific Rim is probably the best looking 4k disc I've seen so far. It's amazing. It's great that it's 16x9, too. I really wish more movies were filmed that way because they ultimately will end up being seen on flatscreen TVs.

Flyattractor
Meh. I will wait for 7K.
