how far do they get? can they clear?

AlmightyKfish
They definitely can't clear, as when you get to the high end of the Lovecraft universe you get ridiculous stuff like Azathoth, who is for all intents and purposes a multiversal God at the centre of all reality.

XSUPREMEXSKILLZ
Basanos aren't defeating the Outer Gods. That would require someone like Lucifer, and even that is sketchy.

Zack M
Which outergods are you using? I know DC has them.

XSUPREMEXSKILLZ
Whatever version of the Outer Gods D.C. has, they're infinitely inferior to the Lovecraft iterations, AFAIK.

Azathoth was kept asleep from a flute...Surely theres a way to defeat it and Basanos nearly fell Lucifer.

Azathoth power is like dream reality manip on multiversal scale. Is it really much different from say Dream in the Dreaming?

Beings that are Lucifer/Michael tier are Azathoth's mere dreams. The Basanos don't really stand any chance whatsoever.

Mindset
Basanos get stomped

Thats taken out of context. The quote from the poem "The Fungi From Yuggoth" is not only NOT meant to be taken literally, it uses dream in it's past tense form, implying Azathoth was awake. There is a huge misconception going around that Lovecraftian beings are unbeatable monsters. This is untrue, and it isn't the point of his works as many would claim. While we all derive different meanings from things, it was clearly stated in Lovecraft's letters that he intended to present the idea of a chaotic universe beyond the scope of what we think to be reality. It was about the worthlessness of human existence. Needless to say, he obviously succeeded. Azathoth is a powerful being no doubt, but he is not a tier higher than Lucifer or Michael

It's never stated to have created the multiverse, it is also never stated to be asleep. The idea that the being created the universe in it's sleep was created when Robert M. Price claimed that some of the inspiration for Azathoth came from Lord Dunsany's Mana-Yood-Sushai, from The Gods of Pegana. This entity was lulled to sleep by musicians, and would cause them to cease to exist if it awoke. The inspiration didn't come from Mana-Yood-Sushai sleeping, it cam from the idea that it had many lesser deities playing instruments around it to appease it. It would be a logical fallacy to assume that the traits of one being automatically adapts the traits of a being that a co-writer believes to be it's inspiration. Azathoth is supreme in it's universe, however much like Dream in Dreaming and creating everything in a dream is merely a rumor that started on message boards and poorly researched wikis like vs wikis. It is possible that they got it from the RPG's which are not the original source that many of them claim it to be and noncanon

None of what you said really matters. At all.

Even assuming the Lovecraft-verse isn't Azathoth's dream, he's still responsible for its creation. As I said in the other thread, he still predates and is responsible for the concepts of existence and nonexistence themselves:

And it has been stated many times that Azathoth is supreme, even over Lucifer/Michael tier beings like Yog-Sothoth/Nyar.

I just re-read the 2nd paragraph of your post and caught that you said Azathoth is only supreme in its native universe (the ultimate chaotic void). laughing out loud

They didn't. Lucifer almost killed himself when he lost control of his power because the balance of it was shifted when two feathers were removed from his wings. They planned it, but they didn't overpower him like you imply.

That's true.

They were still powerful enough where Lucifer preferred to conserve his power in their initial meeting (Before he depowered as creation started to unravel), which implies he's not so far above them that he could wipe them out effortlessly.
