I grew up with the cartoon as a child. It's been a ridiculously long time since I saw it, but seems like it could be a cool story for del Toro to tackle..

It'd be cool if this was Fable's Pinocchio. A man can dream...

I just want Del Toro to make high budget kaiju films for the rest of eternity, I'm not super into his weird fascination with fairy tales.

I was apparently under the false impression that del Toro abandoned the project because I saw a live action Zemeckis version coming out too.

But apparently they're just separate projects coming out the same year...

I don't care for musicals, so that's really the only reason I didn't want to watch Booty and the Beast or Aladdin. I didn't really grow up on those anyway.

What do you think of Pinocchio? I'm going to watch but the reviews are too mixed

The Disney Pinnochio was boring, turned it off about 30 mins in.

Still planning to check this one out in Dec.

Mokku of the Oak Tree is the best Pinnochio series of all time.

I showed them the original cartoon a year or so ago and they seemed to enjoy it.

Though they probably don't remember it.

Technically this is the thread for the del Toro version, but yes, I watched the Tom Hanks version with my kids (most of it anyway) and it was mediocre at best. I think using live actors with the CGI was a bad decision. It's very awkward in parts. Should have gone full CGI with voice actors, honestly.

But my kids didn't care, they watched intently, which I was thankful for, haha.. It still has some charm to it at times, but yes, it's mostly bad.
