Tiger Shark in his early appearances where he was giving Namor and Miss Marvel very tough fights would stomp. But in modern times he got 1-shotted by Daredevil and choked out underwater by Punisher. I'll take Black Manta right now.

There was context behind most of those losses. But yeah he does job a lot.

He did stalemate Namor in the Offenders arc... with upgrades... and against classic Namor... but still.

He did have trouble with Shitstroke, didn't he?

Classic Tiger Shark was equal to Namor. Never had many wins, but had decent showings against guys like Namor, Hercules and even hung with the Hulk for a bit, (underwater).

Black Manta would have no chance.

In later years, Tiger Shark was "officially" depowered.

yes. but he's weird. he actually hangs with AM sometimes. ts SHOULD murder him. i think arthur holds back against him often. ts wouldn't. underwater ts should beat him easily. on land the same, but the range of his weapons might help him some. classic ts should take this all day, despite some of the more ridiculous showings i'm seeing. /shrug

Classic tiger sharks physical attributes make him difficult for namor to deal with. Doubt it.

Since then, he has lost that level of power and therr have been multiple appearances where he was trying to get it back and even trying different ways to get back to that level.

I hope this is true it would make sense of a lot of his later appearances. I like his character design, I wish Marvel would give him a little respect.

I think there r multiple story arcs where he is complaining about getting weaker, trying to trap Namor so he can siphon his power, and trying out new genetic experiments, all hoping he can get back to his original level.

They mutated him, changed his personality a few times, his appearance a bunch of times.

Just a disaster. A throw-away character. But, yeah, when he was created, he had potential.

I remember in one of his early showings, some hero (dont remember who), was facing off with Arliss. And Arliss laughs and explains that, while he had been wandering the seas on his own, at the bottom of the ocean Tiger Shark has "fought monsters that make an aircraft carrier look puny". Or something like that.

I thought they mighy throw one of those stories in a book at the time, but it never happened.
