Hercules. Not the Marvel version, the actual Greek myth. Realistically, every modern superhero with superhuman strength owes a nod to Herc, Hulk probably more so than many. The rage issues are a direct inheritance as well.

Or Sampson. You know he gets stronger as he gets madder/he gets stronger as his hair grows. I'd say anyone with static strength pays homage to Herc, anyone who's strength increases with a specific catalyst pays it to Sampson.

Actually no, already in the PC days but back then you had so many writers and Supermans strength was all over the place.
