Question: How is Maul familiar with the Chosen One prophecy?

Answer: The Chosen One is a two sided prophecy. Both the Jedi and the Sith have the prophecy and their idea of what the prophecy means, and both sides interpreted balance of the Force to mean they will win. Two sides of war saying, "God is on our side!" So Maul is very familiar with that prophecy. The Sith reading would be that this guy is going to set everything right, create balance in the Force, and Maul's interpretation of that is vengeance. Vengeance will be had and all accounts will be settled by this guy, the Chosen One. Of course, that's not the Jedi interpretation of what balance of the Force means. Another way to look at that is that Maul was pretty close to redemption but slipped up right there at the last second with the vengeance read. So while he, perhaps, didn't get redemption, he certainly got a measure of forgiveness from Obi-Wan Kenobi. . . .

To Darth Sidious, "no, it's perfectly balanced, this is the way it's suppose to be" (referring to the state of the galaxy as of Twin Suns). That's the thing with the Sith - any kind of prophecy about the Chosen One - the Sith don't just observe prophecy and wait for it to happen, they try to force it into happening. It's apart of what Anakin's downfall. It's what Darth Sidious has been doing this whole time: looking into the future to see how he can manipulate events in exactly the way that he sees them. . . .

There was talk of a "Sith'ari," that there would be a perfect Sith that would solve all of their problems. According to some theories, he's looking for the Sith'ari, he's looking for one that would fulfill all of that. And perhaps Palpatine suspects that it is him, since he's the guy from Darth Bane's Rule of Two, for a thosuand years the Sith have been the Illuminti, the Sith have been the secret organization that is corrupting the Republic from within, and Palpatine is the guy who gets to draw his lightsaber in public and execute the Jedi and resurrect the Sith Empire in the name of the first Galactic Empire. . . .

The Sith have been stealing and researching Jedi artifacts for a thousand years, since the Darth Bane thing. They know everything about the Jedi. They know exactly what these guys are counting on, hoping for, trying to do, and if they didn't know everything about the Jedi, they wouldn't have been able to destroy the Order so fully in the Clone Wars.

So...something we knew before TCW was a thing, let alone Rebels. I guess I don't understand why them keeping a concept from Legends is noteworthy. They do it all the time.

Fresh I feel you log on to KMC nowadays for the sole purpose of complaining.

That was always the only reason I ever logged on to KMC.
