It wouldn't do anything.

We know from Frieza/Goku that it's possible to tank destroyer energy via sheer power. I doubt it'd work on Whis.

Given Beerus' temper, I'd honestly be surprised if he hasn't already tried to erase Whis. ermm

Anywho, I see Whis being rather amused with Beerus for trying to erase him, and saying something to the effect of "Oh, Lord Beerus... When will you ever learn to mind your temper?", before administering casual chop-KO to 'reset' Beerus' mood.

Sounds about right to me.

Although Whis did sweat a little against making Beerus angry once.. Wonder if it's simply because he's worried about collateral damage to others, or if GoD's have some unrevealed way to discipline angels if they step out of line (By complaining to the head angels, maybe?)

If they're so much more powerful then a GoD, what keeps them from going rogue and taking over a universe outright?

I don't recall the sweating scene off hand, but if it happened it was almost certainly for comedic purposes only. At this point it is WELL established that the guide Angels are FAR superior to the GoDs. The only beings that are more powerful than guide Angels are Daishinkan and Zen-Oh.

As for why Angels don't go rogue, it's just not in their character:
