Was Vitiate a fraud then? Confused about a line from the FP (spoilers obviously)

So Zildrog (the machine, whatever exactly it is) said it hasn't had this much hunger since it devoured Nathema. As we've been told this whole time, Vitiate devoured Nathema with a dark side ritual himself and sacrificed 8,000 Sith Lords or whatever the number was to make himself immortal. Is this saying that that was all grandstanding and he really used this Zildrog superweapon to devour Nathema? It doesn't seem to make sense as Vitiate shouldn't have even known about Zildrog/Zakuul etc. at the point when he did that ritual on Nathema. Was it just conflicting/bad writing?

The Merchant
Retcon ig. Did he still absorb the energies from Nathema?

snoke123
and Ziost? for aught, I know he did that in ziost alone only using his own power, without any ritual or machines involved.

Freedon Nadd
Ziost is a Dark Side nexus.

Freedon Nadd
Maybe he knew about it before and had plans with it?

Trocity

Doesn't make an iota of difference.

Whatever we knew about Nathema was through third party accounts and narratives.

What we do know is that Vitiate was the sole beneficiary of the experiment whereas others perished.

He used the Dark Side nexus to subjugate those people and used said-so nexus to unleash a wide-planetary wave of Dark Side energies, and then feed on the damage caused by the Dark Side energies. Just stating the Drain process performed by Vitiate.

No, he used his own power:

Unleashed from his sanctuary on Yavin 4, the former Sith Emperor has now struck the Imperial world of Ziost. Using his immense power in the dark side of the Force, he has dominated the minds of the planet’s Imperial troops--as well as an elite cadre of militaristic Jedi--and has set them against the populace, engaging in a bloody slaughter.

From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor)

&

"On Ziost his spirit controls beings and then uses to kill other beings then posses more, it's a cycle until I think it reaches a point where he's able to consume the planet." (Endorsed by Charles Boyd)

These sources don't contradict the argument.

1. The first source merely says that Vitiate used the Dark Side version of Mind control technique. Of course that Force abilities belong to people.

2. The author states that Vitiate feeds on them(steals their Force energy) and that allows him to drain the entire planet.

Even Vitiate agrees on this part:

He might be capable of draining planets post-Ziost.

But before Ziost, he clearly used other methods to drain the planet of its lifeforce.

Freedon Nadd
In fact, I do have proof that Vitiate assaults planets with Dark Side energy before consuming them.

The drain of Ziost. You see that Vitiate's spirit is bombarding the planet with waves of Dark Side energy.

Also, I thought we all agreed that during the Ziost events, Vitiate has been noted to be nowhere to his real power(post-Nathema events) given he was just a Force ghost?

Therefore, we have reached to the only conclusion that Vitiate needs to assault the planets he drains/ed with Dark Side energy. So, the only thing he does regarding drain is to feed on the deaths caused by those Dark Side energies, boosting himself up until his drain expands on wide-planetary levels.

So, he doesn't drain directly his subjects, he merely feeds on their deaths caused by the destruction of those Dark Side energies.

This also explains why Vitiate had in mind to drain the galaxy with his ritual but needed long amounts of preparation. He wanted to use the Force to gather Dark Side energies by sending his agents out across the galaxy in order to take advantage of the chaos and perform the sacrifice necessary to start the ritual.
