Who wins?

Hard to call.
Imza doesn't have the desteictive power to put Superman down or even KO him.
She got her wims via creatice magic. Magically healing enemies and removimg the darkmess or evil within. With Superman she doesnt have any of that to work with (tjere is no darkness etc)
She could create a containment that might/ should hild him bit I dont see that as being a majority.

Split or Supes 5.5/10

A good Fate will beat a good Superman.

The problem is that While Inza was a GREAT Fate character wise (made for far the best stories IMHO) power wise she was one of the lowest. She was probably the MOST POWERFUL in creative magic and by far the most imaginative in how to use it. Unfortunately while she could use that in a battle against her normal type of foe its not functionally applicable vs Superman. If he was to blitz with his speed out of the gate she has no defense she can raise quick enough. She can certainly jeal from any damage he causes instantly etc but all she can really do is contain him.

She turned all politicians in D.C. into newts. She could transform Superman.

Here's the (hilarious) scene:

I'm not for a second saying she couldnt.
Just that realistically if Superman used his speed she'd be taken out before she could do such a thing.
I mean lets be honest that was a pretty public event, they got quite a bit of mail because of the publicity. So it's not like Superman would be unaware of the fact she can do that.tjerefore if he was in a battle witj her hes certainly not going to wait for her to transmute him. He's actually more likely to blitz because of it.

If she had prep or prior knowledge of the battle she wins. In a random encounter howevet with what is common knowledge each would have of the other I just see Supes as acting too fast. Any hesitation on his part at all and Inza can win. Unlike other versions of Fate she never ever needed complex incantations. She just thought and it happened. Or as she replied when kent told het "it doesn't work like that" she replied "I'm Dr Fate if I think it wotks that way it does" (words to tjat effect I'm not near my comics and working from memory)

That's exactly the kind of abuse of power that Superman would put a stop to.

God damn disgrace to super heroes.

I havent read the character in decades, so i appreciate the clarification.
Its true Fate is usually on the uber-powerful side of the equation, so its easy for me to forget that hasnt always been the case.

She wasnt a disgrace to Superheroes at all she was just more in touch with humanity/everyday man than most. Her character was more concerned with everyday concerns..instead of fighting evil doers she would use her magic to purge them of evil and make them good.

When an industrialist was raping and pilagimg the earth and taling advantage of all who worked for him she magicallt made him irrelivant and unseen by all. She made him see the errors of his ways then simply remade all his business into resources that fixed everything he damaged. She made autonomous wish fulfilment orbs that floated around her suburb and fixed what ever the people needed fixing. As they did the area they covered expanded.

The whole reason she was called before the senate was necause her effect on a spreading area of NY was meaning the people werent reliant on the government and self sustained. Her wish fullfilment orbs were healing people meaning health ensurers were loosimg policies. They were fixing things like faulty traffic lights tjat cause accidents and risked lives and the cars in those accidents.

That's what made her run as Fate so much better. It was more am analysis of social ineqity. Sort of like Green Arrow under tje pen of Mike Grell.

Dont get me wron if she gets the chance to think ansnuse magic first she's creative enough in its use to beat Supes. In a forum fight however where everyone is at their best Supes will acy fast knowing JUST how dangerous she is. In the DCU she is the most openely known and understood version of Fate. I mean she did magically have a brigjt sign permanently in the sky above her NY brownestone pointing to it saying Dr Fate. People on the street would come up to her as Inza and ask for help. That is after all why the senate knew who to call before them, government agents actually followed and monitored her. Any other hero underbtje scutiny she was and with the capacity to do so would have also given them a warning, and that is all she did. Give notice of what she was capable of andnto back off.

She brute forced her way through issues where her rhetoric failed.

There's nothing impressive about being in an argument with someone, failing to convince them, and then using magic to dominate them.

That's no different from a dictator.

She should fast forward 20 years and read the Authority, Injustice or Jupiter's Legacy.

This is exactly why looking at a single scan and thinking you know the story and all the context behind it is massively flawed.

Inza didn't dictate to anyone. she never tried to push anyone to do anything or follow any path of any kind.

Quite the contrary actually she was called before the senate so that they could dictate to her. In case you didn't pick up on it they thought she was depowered and we're trying to make an example of her. It's why the event was televised in the first place. A group of powerful men who had never once tried to do anything too her the whole time she was Dr Fate called her into a public forum to try and save face the instant they thought sje was depowered.

She had cost certain interest groups who pay for their campaigns quite a bit of profit because she healed people for free, fixed necessities without an expensive contract. All she did was call it for what it was and show exactly who was acting in self interest (you'll notice she only transmuted those politicians guilty of taking bribes or serving special interest groups), then returned them to normal and walked away without doing anything else. Had she actually been trying to as you say dictate something, why didnt she? She had the ability to make them do as she wanted but didn't .

Putting a bully in his place only enough to make him leave you alone when your capable of vastly more is the exact opposite of Injustice. Dont assume you know all the context of a whole story from a scan or two. You'll be wrong more often than not. Had Inza wanted to she could have dominated their wills and made them do what she wanted, she didnt.

For the record there were a couple of issues in the middle of her time as Fate where she did "wig out" and become somewhat totalitarian. A guy had come to her for help right at the time the city was under siege with elder god attacks ( they were going mad). She ignored his need and he went postal and killed his family and himself.

She was pretty much orchestrated into turning into that

https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/3/30145/6531650-made+dictator.jpg

Throughout the whole series she was concerned if she was doing too much

https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/3/30145/6531759-worry+doing+too+much.jpg

This is the back story behind the men of power.

https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/3/30145/6531753-powerful+men.jpg

The reason they wanted to make an example of her when they thought she was "depowered"

She really was the peoples hero

https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/3/30145/6531655-peoples+hero+2.jpg

So much so that those people are the ones who gave her back her power when she was depowered.

She is literally at the end of her run powered by the faith ordinary people have in her. Without the faith of the people she has no power.
