Sony is making plans for the approximately 900 Marvel character properties it owns... -snip

Maybe Fox will take up the same sentiment and I'll finally get that Maggott standalone movie I've been waiting for. A boy can dream.

This is a little concerning for the fate of Spiderman in the MCU.

Sony still owns the rights to the character, and as per the agreement, they can terminate Marvel's right to use at any time. If they really get serious about having their own comic book universe with crossovers and what not, they're going to probably want to get Spiderman in there. However, Marvel has made it clear that as long as Spiderman is in the MCU, they won't give permission to Sony to use that character in other Sony exclusive projects. This could set up an unfortunate situation where Sony gets angry and yanks Spiderman from Marvel, so they can use the character in their movies.

^ Agreed. We should boycott these nonsense films which will risk Spider-Man leaving the MCU.

Spiderman and Batman have the best villains out of any other heroes gallery of rogues.
What makes them interesting in both cases? Most are not that interesting on their own. Most are silly or ridiculous.
What makes them interesting is their relationship, connection or conflict with Peter or Bruce.

This is what Sony fails to see. You take away Peter and his connection from his villains , and most are not that interesting on their own.

You now have to get rid of their origin story and other memorable stories from the comics and are forced to make up new origins and stories for them. And how many villain movies can they make? Are all the movies just the bad guys and their adventures? Are they going to make every famous spiderman villain an anti-hero now so their solo movies could work?

Its all stupid to me. And Sony just wants to pump out movies for the characters they own because they think they are in good reputation with the general audience now because Homecoming didn't bomb and was well received.
