Either Legends or Canon is fine, I've been trying to find any time reference how long they were in there but to no avail.

Never really read on how long they were in the asteroid field, hours is my best guess. The journey they made to Bespin at least for the Falcon was weeks on the backup hyperdrive in Legends.

Hmmm would the asteroid field being a threat to the Imp stars disprove the firepower and shielding stats given in the ICS. In the Technical Commentraties, they scaled the 2 asteroids we see impact on The Avenger and another ISD at 10 meters to 70 meters respectively.

In space, asteroids move at 25,000 meters per second and an asteroid That's 70 meters in diameter with a nickel iron composition would have an impact of 105 Megatons of TNT. That asteroid took out the bridge of the unarmed ISD in the movie. The 10 meter asteroid that impacted on the bottom of the ISD Avenger would have an impact of 308 kilotons of tnt. That didn't cause any damage.

Assuming they were in the field for 2 hours and were pelted by one 10 meter asteroids per second and the shields went down from that it would be roughly 2 Gigatons of tnt. Using 70 meters would be 756 Gigatons of TNT. High numbers but nowhere near the Petaton shields the ICS lists.

Although neither were vaporized to vaporize a 10 meter nickel iron asteroid would yield 7.5 kilotons of tnt and the 70 meter one 2.7 megatons of TNT. Them not vaporizing the 70 Meter one gives the implication they couldn't.

I'd wager that the Imperial fleet wasn't using shields, based on the fact of Needa's line to raise shields when he thought the Falcon was moving into attack position. Or at best shields weren't fully up as shields are a power hog and only used when about to engage combat. Chalk it up to Imperial arrogance I suppose, they were relying on their gunners to take out the bigger asteroids.

That said, according to sources, the bigger asteroids were hitting with multi-megaton force.

Of course I don't really see the need to use ICS as far as firepower or shield strength goes, because there's better sources.

There's also something else to note, the bridge of an ISD wouldn't be as armored as the rest of the ship due to the windows on the bridge, this gets hit means all that debris or what have you goes straight through and destroys everything. Similar to what happened in ROTJ with the Executor and Green Leader with his A-wing.
