Let's say a bunch of characters are doing their morning grocery shopping then all of a sudden Superman comes out of nowhere and clocks them in the head. Whose auto shields will allow them to survive?

I'm talking about squishy characters that require shields like Dr Strange, Quasar and Green Lantern; not Juggernaut-level durability characters. I'm not entirely sure how each character's auto-shields work but do attackers need to be seen so it activates; or are they always on? Is the Invisible Woman's shields always on? How about telekinetic like Jean Grey?
