In DBS 91 when Goku is prepping for the TOP old Kai mentions that he can draw out Gokus potential power (like he did for Gohan). Unfortunately there wasn't enough time left for them to do that before the tournament started so it never happened.

But what if old Kai would have been able to unlock goku's power before the TOP? what type of new power would goku have been packing and would it have made a difference?

Narratively, Goku has very little potential compared to Gohan. And probably even Vegeta.


He's simply very smart about his training, and a genius at unlocking power ups. But everyone has access to those same power ups, and in theory would eclipse Goku, if all things were equal.

Doubtful. UI is a technique, like Kaio-Ken. I don't believe the mystic form is really a form at all, but simply the elder Kaio maxing out one's base mode. For Gohan, this was more then SSJ3. For Goku, his could be even lower. Maybe at SSJ2, or even the SSJ level.

The thing is, to max out base form, requires untold decades of training. Gohan might have trained his entire life, and never reached his max potential. Elder Kaio entered a cheat code, to unlock everything at once.


That's my theory, anyways. There isn't exactly any real explanation on exactly what Elder Kaio did to Gohan, nor anything to compare it against.

His base would be around Jirens maximum most likely

That was a popular theory back in the day, yes, but we've seen him transforming into Mystic in Super.

So it is a form of sorts.
