I still don't get how the "kneel before the dragon of Zakuul" had worked on him, also Revan should have shown up in that scene.

The Outlander used the fact it was their own mind to basically make the rules and then used the holocron to destroy him.

Because as the bad guy he must loose at the end even though this implied the Outlander ridiculously cheapshot him.

PIS to be honest.

Nevertheless, some observations:

Valkorion was VULNERABLE in the mind of The Outlander, but didn't realize this.

The Outlander realized the aforementioned a bit late, but he also sought a powerful artifact to boost his chances when the situation would call for it. The artifact in question would come in handy on getting a fix on Valkorion's spirit, and substantially weaken it during the course of struggle.

Valkorion's family also helped The Outlander in defeating Valkorion, by augmenting the former's mental fortitude on top of and .

Would of made made for a far better scene to have, Jedi Spirits such as Revan/Meetra etc to show up combining their strength to stop him.

I've heard they were going to do a trilogy, Valkorion was supposed to get his own series, but instead they merged his ending with Vaylin's KotET.

Basically, with the aid of the holocron, Arcann, and Vaylin, the Outlander was able to assert control over his mind/body, and proceed to cut off Valkorion from his power (via some "kneel before the dragon of zakuul" shenanigans).

Maybe his superpower was tied to Zildrog.

The first is a central computer that specializes in the transfer of life energies. Given this device's presence on Nathema, it is likely that Zildrog was a key element of the original ritual Tenebrae used to empower himself at the cost of all life on the planet. Beyond that first atrocity, however, Zildrog's central mind appears to have played no role in Tenebrae's dual life as Vitiate and Valkorion, and slumbered in stasis mode until Vinn Atrius discovered it many years later.

The second of Zildrog's forms is the ancient warship known as the Gravestone. Though it can be operated by an organic crew when required, the vessel's Dark Heart functions as a remote command core that allows Zildrog to control the ship as an extension of itself.

The big stupid face didn't. The Gravestone and the Dark Heart might did.
