This guy was on top of the world, it seems like after the Jake Shields incident back in the day he's been out of touch.

The last time he did well in a fight was against Bisping.

It's almost like the fight left him. He just became a weird psycho who had fun doing awful things.

That's the fight game, a good friend of mine in the '90s was british boxing champion (weight withheld for identity). He had some bad shit in his personal life, is an alcoholic, I haven't seen him in 20 years, but I read in a local paper in the Midlands after googling his name he'd recently been to court for drunken assault. Shit happens people handle it differently.

Drugs, and mental illnesses.

Yeah, Mayhem legitimately has mental health and drug abuse problems. On top of that, he is probably a naturally wild personality, having had disciplinary problems even in his youth.

Honestly, his MMA career probably kept a lot of his troubles at bay. With that gone, he might be one of the tragic cases like Putin mentioned. Some athletes just don't have an exit strategy, and wind up in unfortunate situations after their career ends. With nothing to focus that energy on, some folks revert to old destructive habits or develop new ones.

Sucks man. Dude was my favorite Fighter back in the day.

Always wanted to see that Diaz vs Mayhem fight (even though, and this is coming from a Mayhem fan, Diaz would've won).

Bully Beatdown was legendary.

Bully Beatdown was legendary. It was, but he was just a great fighter as well. He didn't get too many wins against the greats but he did damn well against the likes of Georges St. Pierre, Jake Shields, Michael Bisping, & Chael Sonnen.

He demolished Kazushi Sakuraba IIRC though, and he was winning the earlier rounds in his fight against Bisping.

Dude just needs to get help, apologize to Dana White, etc. He just needs to get his life in order, he's still got some years left in him.
