Valkorion
who is the better villain

(MCU Thanos and TDK Joker)

steverules_2
TDK Joker

BruceSkywalker
both are good villains in their own right

Dr Will Hatch
The Joker. Better acting. Scarier. Thematically served a purpose and legitimately challenged Batman's sense of morality.

Senor Cage
Joker.

Zelax
Ledger's Joker still stands out, as one of the best comic book villains ever put on screen to date.

Galan007
Hard to compare them because they are completely different types of villain.

Thanos is a villain that genuinely thinks he's the hero. He suffered a personal tragedy in the past and doesn't want anyone else to go through such a thing ever again. He's got a messiah complex that lends a level of credence to what he does. If you didn't care about the Avengers so much, you'd almost want him to succeed.

The Joker is just anarchy incarnate. He best says it himself; he doesn't have any plans or grand schemes, he just wants to cause as much suffering and pain as possible and see where things go from there. The reason why so many people love him is because of curiosity; we want to know how the story ends (if at all) and we want to know what horrible and insane thing he'll do next.

Hardly.

Eon Blue
Thanos wins.

Thanos. Bigger, deeper, better while we understand where is coming from rather than a nutty guy who is just a freak for no explanations given.

WolvesofBabylon
Joker easily. Much more interesting character and obviously the acting was far superior.

Depends on the parameters you are using to judge them

1. Comic-book adaptation:

Joker

He definitely stands out as one of the best comic book character adaptations.

2. Acting:

Joker

Hedger's acting/charisma makes Joker one of the best movie villains.

3. Motivations/ideology:

Thanos

Thanos' motivations and strong ideology make him one of the most compelling movie villains. There are times in the movies (Specially in IW) where you can actually sympathize with Thanos, and that is great TBH, because it makes the movie all the more interesting.

4. Impact on the Audience:

Thanos

Joker is great, but he will never leave the same impact Thanos left. Every time Thanos would appear on screen he would give shivers to everyone arround while wondering whose ass he was gonna beat now.

So I think it all comes down to preferences

His motivations are lies he tells himself. The fact is the guy just likes to kill people. We see this demonstrated when the *only* solution he can think of when handed cosmic power is "kill half the universe".

It reminds me of that quote from Ultron about vibranium "they took the most versatile substance in the universe and made it into a shield".

Actually, I think Thanos' method was the easiest.

Using the Infinity Stones come at a cost.

We also see it demonstrated when when he kills Heimdall because he helped Hulk escape.

There was no logical save the Universe reason for him to kill him. He was just pissed at him so stabbed him to death.

Robtard
Brolin explained it himself as to why despite having the power-infinite, Thanos still chose his original path and murdered half the universe, due to callousness.

Thanos is a self-righteous dick

The Joker. Hands down...

If you are talking about physical strength then strongest version of thanos is year 20xx when he actually wiped out half population just to prove his love towards death and stronger version of joker is emperor joker who is omnipotent and omniscience and has all powers of gods like super strength and durability and many more. Now the catch is that he could reverse the effect of his opponents. So, he could reverse the effect of gauntlet(if it took place in marvel universe as gauntlet cannot work in dc universe). Its very hard to determine who would win. Let's leave that on authors.

If considering the impact and fan following then definitely joker wins because he has got a lot of exposure compared to thanos and all thanks to Nolan's masterpiece.

Thanos is a much bigger villain than the Joker will ever hope to be.

juggernaut74
Joker all day.

Thanos will be forgotten in 10 years.

Thanos will be forgotten in 10 years. No, he will not. Joker has been done twice over so since then. You have to ask which joker since there are so many. Only one Thanos, friend. No one will ever forget the ending to the IW and EG. Way more successful and memorable than the Dark Knight.
