Be aware.

I just had a minor - yet incredibly painful - attack.

Had beer, wine, meds and beer again... and barely made it through an attack.

I was lucky. Incredibly lucky.

Usually, it's so bad, even geting hospitalized cannot ease your pain.

So to all of you.

Drink all the fluids you can... even the ones that contain no alcohol (lol wink )... and do the ultrasonographic scans of your kidneys as often as possible...

Please leave this thread open for at least one day.

99% will mock it, but it might be important for someone.

Thank you.

PS: It hurts worse than Doomsday entering your anus, trust me on that. This is why I've made this thread.

ShadowFyre
Hope the pain goes away bro. Luckily thats never happened to me.

Damn Stilt, while reading this over again, I just have to say that I'm sorry to hear about the pain that you went through, even though it's likely that you'll go through it again, because you have to STOP DRINKING SODA.

ShadowFyre
Yeah. I drink like 2 to 3 sodas or energy drinks a week max

Been worse. But thanks, Stoic thumb up Appreciate it.

While you're right about the soda, it's not the only thing responsible for the stones.

The amount of salt in my diet sure as hell is not giving my kidneys any favours, either.

Had way too many of those this year. Guilty as f*ck.

Problem is, I have a boring desk jockey job... lots of paper work... trying to stay awake is quite a challenge.

Coffee is not a good alternative when dealing with the kidney stones. And I'm afraid they won't tolerate me drinking vodka under the table.

Does this mean that lifestyle changes are incoming?

Roll the bones.

Important message for all to see. Get well soon.

Wonder Man
Seriously. You know how they used to shake some bones in their hand and cast them.
The movie Cain Mutiny was based on it.
It's an old superstition with merit.

But seriously, sure. Gonna start by laying off energy drinks and coke.

The first time it happened to me was more than 10 years ago.

Wonder Man
Why do you worry about your body?

Good stuff. thumb up

I don't want us to end up being single-kidney bros, you know.

cdtm
Jesus, that sounds awful.

Stick to water for now, if I can do it you can. thumb up

And what do you mean, usually it hurts worse? You've experienced this before?

You know, we're not all made out of the ionic energy, my friend.

So, I kinda have to.

Need to repeat the ultrasound scans asap.

I doubt they'll tell me anything I don't know already, but there is always a chance that a bigger stone has formed and I need to know if it has.

Yes, plenty of times.

Even if you pass the kidney stones successfully, they will eventually reform.

I was lucky that I'd ordered a carafe of wine before the pain started. Drank it in moments and proceeded to the drugstore (which was really close, got lucky again) - antispasmodics are essential in this case. The sooner you take them, the better.

cdtm
When they hit my father, that wasn't much of an option, unfortunately, being at a theme park way out in the sticks.

And he's got it made compared to an uncle, who I swear gets them once a week.

So think about how great it is not being that guy, if it helps.

I would've died if I hadn't had 0.5l wine and 7 beers that day.

Booze is not directly responsible for kidney stones.

If anything, it can save your ass when the colic starts. Its painkilling, sedative and diuretic effects are very much desired.

Bentley
I'd probably go vegan and skip all other sweets if I could keep drinking booze and that comes from someone who stops drinking alcohol regularly

Stop ****ing drinking so much!!!!

You realize how massive the stones could get if I quit drinking?

Dude. It's like treating Superman's prostate cancer with a kryptonite dildo. Good luck with that.

cdtm
Yeah, moderate drinking actually helps with stones.

Heavy just makes them worse.

Heavy just makes them worse.

Actually, both small and large consumption have been linked with the reduced chance of developing stones.
