James T. Kirk
It's now 2 days before they're announced. Who wants to guess who and what'll get nominated for cinematography, the acting categories, the screenplay categories, Best Director, and Best Picture?

Surtur
Joker will get the Best Picture nom, but won't win.

In that order on who has the best chance for best picture. I wish Joker had a better chance but yeah. I haven't seen 1917 yet but, to me, Joker's better than both Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood and The Irishman.

playa1258
I would put Joker ahead personally.

For me its between Joker and 1917.

playa1258
11 nominations for Joker including the big 3 awards.

Marvel fans are committing mass suicide right now.

Darth Thor
I predict Joker will get at least 10 nominations.

jaden_2.0
Not that it will happen but it'd be funny if Scar Jo won both lead and supporting actress.

Surtur
Uh oh all the best director nominees are male!

This grind my gears. First no diversity at the 2019 BET awards, now the 2020 oscars pull this shit?

I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

John Murdoch
Such a good year for film, and I hardly saw anything. I'll have to get caught up.

Best Picture Noms I've seen so far...

The Irishman
Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
Joker
Marriage Story

Just watched Marriage Story last night on Netflix. It might actually be my favorite so far.

Parasite is going to be a difficult one to see with subtitles and all... is it free on Amazon Prime by any chance?

Robtard
Tried watching Little Women last night, found it boring about 25mins in. Turned it off.

I think you can watch Parasite on Amazon, but it's payperview.

Patient_Leech
^ Yeah, I just watched a clip from Little Women and it looks boring AF. Not sure I even want to try.

Patient_Leech
I've now seen all the best picture noms except Little Women and Ford v Ferrari, and I don't plan to watch Little Women, at least not all the way through.

Parasite was really great, but I felt like the ending/resolution was a little rushed.

1917 was an absolute marvel to behold, just from a cinematography and general film making standpoint. I mean, my god...

Jojo Rabbit was good, a great premise, but there's something very artificial about his movies that takes me out of them, same thing that made me not like Thor Ragnarok very much.

So far I think either Joker or 1917 deserve the win. Maybe even Marriage Story, but less likely.

Patient_Leech
Yeah, Parasite is really good. thumb up

Robtard
Watched Parasite last week, was good.

BruceSkywalker
i have to watch parasite.. i saw little women

Patient_Leech
Finally finished Ford v Ferrari. It's good, don't me wrong, but I do feel a little annoyed that it got a Best Picture nomination and First Man last year with Ryan Gosling didn't. That movie got snubbed big time. That movie had a great story, editing, music... it was great.

Has anyone seen Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler? I've heard it might be a big snub from this year. I don't think it got any noms.

Patient_Leech
Watched Bombshell last night. It's good. thumb up

Charlize Theron really is an incredible actress. She's a chameleon in every role she does, and they're all completely different roles.

John Lithgow is great in it as well. Margot Robbie also.

And Faux News is just a fascinating shit show to make a film about.

Patient_Leech
So I think the only other films I'm interested in seeing before the Oscars are...

The Two Popes
Knives Out
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (if I have time, which I probably won't)

Patient_Leech
Watched The Two Popes.

Tonally it's a mess and the editing and some of the camera-work is frustrating, but it's still pretty good. Though it takes about an hour to get interesting. So it's no wonder it didn't get a Best Picture nom, but it's worth a watch anyway. Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce are fun to watch and the scenery is impressive.

And I don't think any little boys were molested in the making of the film. So that's a plus. thumb up

Surtur
I want 1917 to get best picture.

Yeah, I think either 1917 or Joker should win.

Patient_Leech
Knives Out. Really liked it, though not sure the endings twist made much sense.

Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Really, really good. Fully deserved a Best Picture nomination, so that's a bit of a snub.

Uncut Gems. Watched about half of it and it is definitely not an Oscar snub. It actually has some trippy shit, but I could only take so much of Adam Sandler being an annoying jeweler.

James T. Kirk
Just an hour to go now before the ceremony begins.

The only one that deserves an award is Brad Pitt.

It's an art form, philistine. Why shouldn't they recognize excellence and celebrate the art?

I'm glad Pitt got a win, but I felt like others deserved it more than him in this case.

I'm thinking more and more that Joker is going to get Best Picture. I really hope it's not Ford V Ferrari.

BrolyBlack
For supporting actor, nobody did, he did an amazing job.

Patient_Leech
Highlights for me so far...

Eminem, Julia Louie Dreyfus & Will Ferrell, and the Cats presenting the visual effect award.

laughing out loud

dynamix
yes!! pitt for best supporting actor! he was one of my two choices. the other being Pacino. and im glad Bong Joon ho won for director. parasite was dope

Senor Cage
Phoenix swept the award season. Nice.

Patient_Leech
Parasite is very deserving. Glad it won. I kind of forgot about it, though, haha..

Doesn't seem right for it to win Best Foreign film and Best film. But whatever.

BrolyBlack
I agree with that. Kind of stupid.

1917 deserved best film

-Pr-
Parasite and Joker did well, which I'm glad for. They were my hopefuls.

playa1258
Better check on DisneyWalker at ArkDisney Asylum due to Joker oscar wins.

Patient_Leech

BrolyBlack
I was 100% spot on with my predictions

Now why did the Academy snub Luke Perry

For what? His tiny role in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood?

Not sure if trollin' or not. lookaround

1917 was amazing.

Is it true it was filmed from start to finish in a single camera rolling?

No. There's 59 hidden cuts and 1 actual cut when he gets knocked out.

By all means they should celebrate the art.

And *only* celebrate the art. So no virtue signaling about politics, etc. Just celebrate the art.
