That's not surprising to me in the least. Rogan seems like exactly the kind of person who would decide between Sanders and Trump. There's no way someone like Biden would appeal to him (or a large part of his audience, I suspect, although they might still find Trump the less palatable option)

StyleTime
He never said he's voting Trump you lovable goof. He, in fact, didn't vote Trump this last election despite disliking Hillary too. He just went 3rd party, since, ya know, there's more than just Democrats and Republicans out there.

He is actually not a Trump fan, other than the comedy material Trump gives us. Clowns are funny yo.

This is the same guy with a 7-minute compilation video of him saying the word ******. Who gives a **** what he thinks about literally anything?

The US population is really quite left leaning when it comes to most policy.

StyleTime
Are we though?

I can't tell what the word is due to filter. What was it?

Silent Master
Probably something only far-left SJW type people would get upset over.

No, America as a whole is center-right.

I am not suggesting that Americans are in large swaths socialists. The American political context is economically so right wing that even small steps towards social democracy are considered far left by pundits and politicians.

What I mean is that a large number of Americans feel that all people should have access to healthcare, food and shelter. They feel that things should be more equal and more fair. And they believe that the very richest of society should pay a higher, more fair, share of their wealth to the community they have profited from.

As for voting behavior, more than just the economic tendency one has affects that. For one there are social issues that people have different opinions on, be that abortion, gay rights or gun rights. Additionally more important than what a politician stands for is what the politician can make the voter believe they stand for.

I should point out that gun rights is a dirty filthy lefty position. Only in the weird US is having guns and gun rights considered a right wing thing...it's weird and stupid.

*facepalm*

Not sure if you're trolling or if you're stupid enough to actually believe that shit you just posted. You don't get much more right-wing than supporting the right to bear arms.

I suppose next you'll be claiming that being pro-life is a right-wing position only in America as well lol.

eThneoLgrRnae
Oh, and I stand by what I said earlier.

America is mostly center-right. Anyone who argues otherwise is denying reality. thumb up

Yeah, "gun rights/gun control" isn't really an issue relevant to the economic left/right divide. There are leftists that think the population should be armed, and there's right wingers that want strict control of it. The US, as with many things, has made this issue solely partisan.

I do believe you are right that people identify mainly as center or conservative, as the link you posted said. Partly cause who the **** wants to call themselves liberal, it's basically a dirty word. I'm saying policy wise Americans are much more for wealth redistribution and socially shared burdens than political discourse between the two corporate parties would suggest.

For a lot of people living in poverty, rightist and conservative are dirty words because they run counter to all you stated about healthcare and a social safety net.

You have to stop thinking like a partisan where you only understand "left and right wing politics, Democrat and Republican politics."

Think more like political scientist where we go with the definition of left-wing vs right-wing.

The history of those labels came from the French Revolution where those who wanted more rights and freedom for the people were on the left and those who wanted more power and control to go to the Monarchy and the state sat on the right.

https://www.history.com/news/how-did-the-political-labels-left-wing-and-right-wing-originate

More rights for the people and more freedom for the people: left wing.

More power to the authority and state: right wing.

Think about it, a "rights having" people are those people who have the rights to make decisions on their own without government control. The furthest left you can go is anarchy. The furthest right you can go is absolute state control/oligarchical absolutism.

The US likes a mixture as does most of the modern world. We call those things "mixed economies."

The political spectrum (I have no idea who came up with that) added two dimensions beyond just left wing and right wing due to the confusion and muddying up of what a leftist was and what a rightist was: Authoritarianism and Libertarianism.

It probably helps you to wrap your head around it when you add those 2 new dimensions because now you can throw gun rights to the libertarians, at the bottom of the chart, instead of giving it to the leftists.

I like Rogan as a personality, I don't agree with him often, however, he is like that friend you drink with who isn't stupid, has good social skills and despite the fact you know he's a **** and he knows he's a **** and he knows you know he knows he is a ****. You have a good chat more often than you argue.

Well if Joe Rogan is voting for Trump, then obviously everyone should.
