Poison Ivy vs Mantis (Marvel)

Can Mantis still control plant life? Been a while since I've read about her.

Dont think it really matters. Ivy is superior in that regard, to the point where she even surprises Swamp Thing.

is Ivy still planetary like a couple years ago, I know she got a power boost, but don't know if it was permanent

I was thinking Mantis knowing pyrokinesis and telepathy would help a bit but yeah Poison Ivy's control over the green is far too extensive and powerful.

That's a good point. Why would TP not work on Ivy? Is she resistance to it? Also IIRC Mantis burned Groot up from the inside. Seems like that may work on Poison Ivy.

The battlefield certainly helps Ivy but Mantis may not be defenseless.

Forum rules favor Ivy. She also has pheremones that can control whoever.

Actually forum rules favor the one with the quickest first attack that can put her opponent down for the count. Mantis TP is quicker to the draw than Ivy's pheremones. Ivy has been mentally controlled by the Green. And Gorilla Grodd was confident that he could mind control her as well.

Also look at the size of Groot who Mantis was helping to grow enormous, to fill up a superstructure spire. Mantis set him on fire from the inside even making his blood much more flammable.

This shows that Mantis can multitask. Right after fighting she blocks Quill's pain with TP while also increasing Groot's size the whole time.

So she can win this with TP or maybe pryokinesis.

Grodd isn't a good comparison. He's a mid, sometimes top tier telepath. Is Mantis on Grodd's level?

This is an environment, where it favors Ivy, since it's in the jungle. Ivy also has shields via plants, so pyrokinesis might not work.

But has Poison Ivy ever resisted tp? I'm not up to date on Mantis so hopefully someone who is will chimed in. I do know she along with Cosmo and Moondragon was able to put the mental whammy on Thanos and immobilize him briefly. Thanos has tp shielding or something like it. Those three was also stated to be three of the most powerful telepaths in civilized space. So she's certainly not some feeble rookie.

That was a shared feat, though. Not relevant on her own power. What is the average that Mantis uses her tp powers? Isn't she primarily a MA?

Anyway, Ivy's shield type of protection was able to stop swords and even trains. I bet its thick enough to stop fire.

Which is too bad, as she's far more interesting than Gamora.

Anyway, her telepathic power has always been about the empathic aspect of it, iirc.

And that's saying a lot, considering Mantis only has a couple of solid depictions herself.

Plant shields will not stop an internal attack of Ivy being set on fire. That being said looks like Mantis will lose this due to not having any fans here lol.

I actually quite like modern interpretations, like Abnett/Lanning Mantis.

Fight could be interesting though. Mantis can be vague, as she wasn't a super mainstream character for most of her existence.
