Who wins

Comic fight, Batman 10/10. Forum fight, Dazzler 10/10.

Batman shouldn't have any countermeasures for Dazzler, unless he has a specific pouch on his utility belt to deal with Dr. Light. But even then Dazzler has a surprisingly large bag of tricks, which Bruce's standard equipment shouldn't really have answers to.

Interesting fight. Dazzler converts sound into energy blasts, right? Putting her up against one of the quietest combatants in comics - who manages to sneak past Superman and his hearing - would be a good fight.

I assume she can use her own sounds, like clapping/shouting? Otherwise, she has zero ways to actually get enough energy to hit Bats.

Who, meanwhile, has gas and tranqs that can knock her out.

This isnt Batman being a ninja and sneaking around. Its a fight. He's going to make noise. Grunts, impacts, shouts, etc...

And his tranqs and gas have no way of getting past her forcefield which is made of lasers so if he touches it its like touching a lightsaber wall.

With common knowledge (i.e. that she's a mutant who converts sound to light energy), the World's Greatest Detective would be pretty stupid to shout etc at her.

Especially as we know he's perfectly capable of attacking and moving with zero sound.

It's an interesting fight. Doubt that her forcefield blocks gas.... otherwise she chokes herself out with zero air lol.

Best Batman comic I've ever read

Like Cyclops, Dazzler always carries a base level of charge with her. It's obviously not near her one-shot heralds state, but she's generally fight ready as a default. With the starting distance, stuff like her solid light clones and long ranged attacks will be a problem.

And she's accurate as ****, having shot directly into the barrel of a distant sniper rifle while recovering mid-air from its previous shot. She didn't know where it was beforehand either. Doesn't mean she can't miss, but we really don't get to talk about Dazzler all that much, so I feel like I gotta post something.

Dazzler is phucking awesome but she gets criminally overlooked in favor of more 'popular' characters like Wolverine or 'omega' level mutants like Jean.

ANNNNNNND you just gave me an idea for a cool thread involving her.

Yeah, she's always "around", but doesn't headline as much as one would expect such a long time X-Man to.

His cowl protects him against that; he's gone up against Vertigo before (no prep) and he just fights blind.

Oh for sure. I knew his mask could defend against it, but I wondered if she could do it before he realizes what's happening. But, I guess basic knowledge means he knows light based shenanigans could come his way, so he'd be ready for it I'd imagine.

Blinding attacks probably won't work either.

On a side note, she used to call her blinding attack the Stroboscopic Flashbulb Dazzle-Blast. I'm not joking. Her attack names were wacky because the 80's.

She got charged up by the battle there....in a PIS/CIS less battle, she'd never get that sound to fire that blast off intime.

I don't rule out that Batman could do it, considering the cowl has done similar before. Bruce conceivably has better tech than someone like Flame, who's glasses already blocked most of the effect.


Granted, I wasn't saying Batman wins. I'm just exploring Dazzler's more exotic options. There's not many interesting threads around at the moment, so we gotta make do. I'd be interested in how he deals with a giant, solid light dragon.

Ostensibly, they emit heat, so infrared vision shouldn't help much in the case of the clones.

Honestly, I didn't think of X-Rays and I don't have a totally satisfying answer for this. She's shown the ability to alter the wavelength of her light, so it feels logical she could change her clones too; however, I don't actually have an example of her making X-Ray clones. The closest was against Reaver possessed Sentinels, but Beast points out the Reavers weren't using all the Sentinel sensory equipment.

Granted, here, she would only need to make her and her clones reflect X-rays. That alone would alert the Sentinels to the ruse, whereas Batman would still have to locate her specifically. Assuming she can do it anyway.

The chaff grenades are definitely interesting too. She did encounter a prepped opponent who used a reflective coating for the same effect, although her lasers were stated to be able to break through if given enough time. I think some big questions here are: Could she melt them? Could she stand on a light pillar until the chaff falls to the ground? Would AOE attacks be enough to go through the openings and hit Batman?

I'm totally unsure how the solid constructs would actually interact with the chaff. In real life, yeah, light is light. But, there is no solid light in real life either(it's hypothetically possible from my understanding). I wonder if her just ramming that light-brick wall through it would work, or if the dragon could just stomp around like normal?

And that's the problem with Batman- he has so many appearances, and interacts with so many characters whilst writers try to keep him relevant, that he pretty much has an answer to anything.

He probably relies on sound, to some degree, to fight blind. He would be both blind and deaf in this case.

He's definitely got tools for this. It's why I figured blinding attacks would be less effective here. As for the holograms, it might be them reacting to each other. Dazzler might realize what's up and start running through different wavelengths, while Bruce compensates. I imagine it would buy her some time, although catching glimpses of her real body would probably be enough info for someone like Bruce. I doubt he needs a 100% clear picture at all times to predict where she is.

I agree. He's displayed tools for tons of situations, and any formal argument against Bruce(and others like him) would involve the standard equipment clause. I'm speaking in general btw, as I have no problem with the cowl specifically. Our discussion is mostly for fun though, so I'm stretching Dazzler's hologram manipulation a bit too. Bruce might actually not have much of a problem with them.

The scene with the invisible soldiers is a little misleading when isolated in a respect thread though. It felt like a clear case of prep to me in the comic. He had a one-issue, special suit with glowing green tech in it, including the eyes.

He also used fake, wax lips against Ivy to avoid her mind control kiss. It just seems like a prep thing to me, or at least him using his cowl. I don't think it was just normal vision, although you may not have been saying that. The same tech worked fine against him in that arc, granted it was illusions and not invisibility.

He used a different prep suit in the previous issue too.

The smell thing is pretty impressive though. I don't know how much it'd help here, since it really only tells him she's in the area. Scarecrow did still get the jump on him. I feel like things would be pretty rough if he was forced to go full blind while she's killing the sound too.

I think the sound dampening thing only applied for protecting Batman's ears too, not the field.

The anti-hypnosis thing is solid though. And also wtf.

Looking at these new scans makes me hate Batman even more. Such a bullsh|t character. They should just come out and make him a high tier metahuman and be done with it because no one believes he's 'only' an Olympic level+ athlete with genius IQ.

At least Dazzler is far more interesting and I'd rather have her abilities than his.

You can't hate Batman even more if you already hate him at the highest level
