A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier from Hudson County today admitted he discarded mail, including 99 general election ballots sent from the Essex County Board of Elections to West Orange, New Jersey residents, from his assigned routes in Orange and West Orange, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced.

Nicholas Beauchene, 26, of Kearny, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor in Newark federal court to one count of desertion of mails.

Beauchene admitted that on September 28th, October 1st, and October 2nd, he discarded into dumpsters in North Arlington and West Orange, New Jersey 1,875 pieces of mail that he was assigned to deliver to postal customers.

This mail included 627 pieces of first-class mail, 873 pieces of standard class mail, two pieces of certified mail, 99 general election ballots destined for residents in West Orange, and 276 campaign flyers from local candidates for West Orange Town Council and Board of Education.

Law enforcement recovered the mail on October 2nd and October 5th, and placed it back into the mail stream for delivery.

The desertion of mail charge is punishable by a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. Sentencing has been scheduled for September 21st.

A Las Vegas man is charged with forging his dead wife's signature on her ballot, mailing it in, and then claiming it had been stolen.

Donald "Kirk" Hartle, 55, faces two charges relating to the 2020 election, records showed. The charges come after an investigation from the Secretary of State's Office, which investigates any voter fraud allegations in connection with the Nevada Attorney General's Office.

Rosemarie Hartle's ballot was one of two cited by Nevada Republicans as evidence of voter fraud in Nevada. "How did the forged signature pass Clark County's signature verification machine"" the Nevada GOP tweeted in November regarding the case. "And this is isn't the only case of a deceased person voting in NV."

Hartle is charged with voting using the name of another person and voting more than once in the same election. Hartle is facing up to four years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

In a criminal complaint filed on January 4th, U.S. postal inspector David Keith detailed how he found Miranda Farleigh, a 25-year-old former employee of the U.S. Postal Service, had committed theft when she rifled through approximately 4,000 pieces of mail, all of which appeared to hold a holiday and/or greeting card.

Farleigh's parents also played a role in the investigation, as both are also letter carriers. They found tubs of rifled mail in their daughter's bedroom and car, and reported it to the local Postmaster in late November last year. A few days later, Farleigh admitted to opening mail containing greeting cards in order to steal money and gift cards.

Keith's complaint says that Farleigh went as far as admitting that she specifically targeted mail that was intended for a retirement community called The Villages, blaming a heroin addiction as the cause of her criminal behavior.

Seminole County Republican Party Chair Ben Paris, political consultant Eric Foglesong, and former independent candidate Jestine Iannotti have been arrested and charged with multiple counts of election fraud related to the 2020 election in Senate District 9.

Iannotti had run in the SD 9 election as an independent candidate in a contest that critics had alleged was a "ghost candidate" maneuver intended to draw votes away from Democratic candidate Patricia Sigman, to aid the election of Republican Jason Brodeur, who won.

Twelve total charges came down through indictments sought by the State Attorney for Florida's 18th Judicial Circuit after a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation. The investigation began in July 2021 after JC 18 State Attorney Phil Archer requested FDLE look into the election.

James Saunders, the 56-year-old Shaker Heights tax attorney convicted last week of voting multiple times in the last two general elections, was sentenced to three years in prison, a judge decided Monday morning.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Santoli coupled Saunders' sentence with a $10,000 fine, a punishment to match the severe violation against the nation's voting laws.

Throughout the case, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office presented evidence that Saunders, who traveled regularly to a second home in Pompano Beach, Florida attempted to cross states lines to vote multiple times, by mail and in person in Broward and Cuyahoga counties.

State Representative David Cole was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with voter fraud, according to Madison County jail records. Cole, a Republican, won 52% of the vote in the House District 10 race in November 2022.

But Elijah Boyd, the Libertarian candidate who finished third in the race, filed a lawsuit on November 22nd alleging Cole was ineligible to run for the Madison County seat because he failed to meet the state law requirement that he reside in the district for at least one year prior to the general election.

Despite his arguments in court motions that his activities were protected First Amendment speech, Brooklyn Federal Court Judge Ann Donnelly countered that he was being sent to prison for conspiring to take away people's right to vote.

After Mackey was publicly unmasked as Ricky Vaughn in 2018, he voluntarily entered an inpatient psychotherapy program and turned his life around, his lawyer said.

Federal prosecutors say a Woodbury County woman committed widespread voter fraud to support her husband in two 2020 electoral races. The U.S. Department of Justice announced charges Thursday against Kim Phuong Taylor, 49, of Sioux City.

According to a DOJ press release, Phuong Taylor faces more than 50 felony charges, including 26 counts of providing false information in registering and voting, three counts of fraudulent registration, and 23 counts of fraudulent voting.

Phuong Taylor is married to Jeremy Taylor, a former Iowa House member and current Woodbury County supervisor. Taylor ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination to replace Representative Steve King in Iowa's 4th Congressional District.

A jury spent five hours deliberating before convicting Kim Phuong Taylor on 52 counts of voter fraud in federal court Tuesday in Sioux City. Taylor faces up to five years in prison on each count. A sentencing date has not been set. Prosecutors say Taylor took advantage of other Vietnamese immigrants by illegally filling out election forms and ballots. Her husband, Jeremy Taylor, lost a GOP primary for the U.S. House in 2020.

Jeremy Taylor ran in the GOP congressional primary against former Representative Steve King in June of 2020. He came in a distant third behind King and Randy Feenstra, who won the primary and was subsequently elected to the U.S. House for the 4th District. In November 2020, Taylor was elected to the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors by a margin of two thousand votes, or 5%. He still serves on the board today.
