Blackbolt vs Firestorm

Which version of 'storm?

So a composite of both?

FS wins.

lawest9
BB if he gets his shout off first, otherwise Firestorm.

Stoic
Boltagon shouts and it's over.

Galan007
What's stopping FS from redirecting it, like he did to Darkseid's Omega Force?

And another question: has BB used his voice against an intangible opponent before? If so, what was the outcome?

leonidas
i was wondering the same. don't think he has. it does act as a super loud noise at times i think. assuming fs still hears normally it could act as a sonic attack and hurt fs that way. i dunno. could be quickdraw.

Philosophía
Firestorm.

It's just rarely an actual 'beam'. BB's normal shout wouldn't have a form that a construct could just redirect. And if Vulcan couldn't simply absorb it and redirect it, I don't see FS doing it.

Otoh, FS could probably pull that trick if Black Bolt fired an electron blast or something.

No crystal clear examples that I can think of an intangible opponent. Two close-ish ones from recent years:

1) Ahura's psychic dupes were quasi-physical:

and Black Bolt casually obliterated them:

then Ahura uses an intangible psychic form to possess Johnny. BB's voice somehow knocks the astral form out of Johnny and knocks out Ahura through the psychic connection (...comics):

2) The cosmic jailer was made out of psychic energy. His construct form was able to simply ignore physical attacks like BB's master blow, so BB switched to his voice and destroyed the form:

later in the series he does it again:

confirmation that the form was a psychic construct:

^ all of that to say, it can clearly hurt beings that aren't quite physical, but nothing as clear-cut as you're asking for. I don't personally see Firestorm simply phasing through it but you could probably write the comic either way.

Otoh, FS could probably pull that trick if Black Bolt fired an electron blast or something. Not saying BB is limited to unidirectional 'voice-beams'... But the interesting part is that in most of the scans you posted below, that's what he seems to be employing:

I'm confident FS could redirect that kind of attack, the same way he redirected Darkseid's Omega Force. An omni-directional blast, however, would obviously be a bit trickier to deal with.

But like you said, the opponents he was attacking there still seemed to have *some* sort of physical element about them. Didn't seem like they were fully intangible.

leonidas
thumb up i think that's enough evidence to suggest he could hit fs if he phased. still feels like quickdraw to me though. in character i'd take bb more often than not. bb is more likely to go for a kill than fs. cis off, it's whoever gets the first kill shot off.
